As I am a third year student the placements are not begun yet but as the placements are concerned I am not so positive about it as from the experience there not many tech related companies coming for the placements and certainly looking for other options and ways to get internships and jobs.

To get the placement, there is requirement. You don't have to remaining any backlogs. All the backlogs should be cleared and you can't join the company untill you get the degree in your hands.
