XISS Ranchi Courses and Fees

XISS Ranchi has seven programmes. These include four two-year PGDM specialisations, the FPM doctoral-level programme, and two short-duration certificate courses. The same fee applies to all four PGDM specialisations.

The PGDM fee is split into INR 5,54,360 for Year 1 and INR 6,53,500 for Year 2. XISS Ranchi is best known for PGDM-HRM and PGDM-Rural Management, as both are focused specialisations and are not commonly offered as separate programmes in eastern India.

XISS Ranchi Admission Process

XISS Ranchi uses one merit-based admission process for all four PGDM courses. It does not have management quota seats. Selection depends on entrance exam scores, past academic record, offline group discussion, extempore, and personal interview.

PGDM-Human Resource Management

• Eligibility: Students need a three or four-year bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate. SC/ST students need 45%. Final-year students may apply on a conditional basis.
• Entrance exam: CAT, XAT, or CMAT scores are accepted. For the unreserved category, the CAT/XAT cutoff is 60 percentile and the CMAT cutoff is 70 percentile.
• Selection: Students apply with a valid entrance score above the cutoff, appear for offline GD and Extempore, attend the Personal Interview, and are then considered for the merit list.
• Weightage: Entrance exam 40%, Personal Interview 25%, academic record 20%, GD 10%, and extracurricular and diversity factors 5%.

PGDM-HRM has the highest cutoff among XISS Ranchi PGDM courses because it draws the strongest demand. Seats are divided equally between CAT/XAT applicants and CMAT applicants.

PGDM-Marketing and PGDM-Financial Management

• Eligibility: The requirement is the same as PGDM-HRM. Students need a bachelor's degree with at least 50% aggregate, or 45% for SC/ST candidates.
• CAT/XAT cutoff: The unreserved category cutoff is 35 percentile. The CMAT cutoff is 45 percentile.
• Selection process and weightage are the same as the PGDM-HRM process.

PGDM-Rural Management

• Eligibility: Students need a bachelor's degree with at least 50% aggregate, or 45% for SC/ST candidates. Applicants from agriculture, rural development, and social science backgrounds are encouraged.
• CAT/XAT cutoff: The unreserved category cutoff is 25 percentile. The CMAT cutoff is 35 percentile.
• The cutoff is lower because this programme looks for students who show interest in rural development.

Graduates of PGDM-Rural Management usually work with development organisations, cooperatives, agri-businesses, NGOs, and FMCG firms that have rural distribution work. This career path is different from the more corporate-facing HRM and Marketing tracks.

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

FPM is the doctoral programme at XISS Ranchi for students aiming for research and academic careers. Applicants need a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks. Selection includes review of a research proposal and an interview. The minimum duration is 3 years, and the programme leads to a Fellow (Doctoral) qualification in Management.
