Midnapore College is an autonomous college in Midnapore, in the Paschim Medinipur district, established in the year 1873, affiliated with Vidyasagar University. Midnapore College strictly follows an online merit-based system for the admission process. For both Undergraduate programs and Postgraduate programs, this college follows an online portal application process for admission.

Guidelines for Undergraduate Admission:

  • Admission will be based on a merit-based online system.
  • Midnapore College’s website www.midnaporecollege.ac.in, will have online application forms for admission.
  • An application fee of INR 250 has to be paid per subject through Payment Gateway mode.
  • An applicant can apply Application Forms for up to 01 Honours Subjects, based on their preferences, and select two generic subjects from the list, one for the first and second semester and the other for the third and fourth semester corresponding to the Honours subject applied for.
  • The admissions merit list would be based on marks obtained in the best five WBCHSE subjects, and in the case of other Boards, the applicant must have passed in 5 (five) recognized subjects in the qualifying test, including at least one language subject.
  • Following the successful submission of the application form and payment of the required fee, each applicant will receive an SMS.
  • A Provisional merit list will be released on the official website and later the Final merit list will be released.
  • Admission would be entirely based on merit. An applicant’s merit point will be calculated by combining 10% of their best five subjects’ grades with their grades in the subject they applied for.
  • The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd merit list will be published consecutively for the online admission process.
  • Before an applicant may cancel his or her admission, he or she must pay the requisite Admission Cancellation Fees.
  • Both admissions are temporary and will be revoked if the documents are found to be in violation of the guidelines issued on the On-Line forms.
  • SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS students will be admitted strictly according to government rules.

Guidelines for Postgraduate Admission:

  • Admission will be based on a merit-based online system.
  • The minimum eligibility criteria for Postgraduate admission is 55% Marks in aggregate in Graduation and 5% marks will be relaxed for applicants of the Reserve Category.

  • An application fee of Rs.400 has to be paid per subject through Payment Gateway mode.
  • A Provisional merit list of 60% seats will be released on the official website and later the Final merit list of 60% seats will be released.
  • The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd merit of the 60% seat list will be published consecutively for the online admission process.
  • The remaining 40% of seats (subject-wise) will be filled by selecting candidates from the Parent University as well as other universities on the basis of merit.
  • An applicant must pay the specified Admission Cancellation Fees before canceling his or her admission.
  • Both admissions are provisional and will be withdrawn if the documents are found to be in violation of the On-Line form’s guidelines.

Midnapore College is a 13.59 acres big campus with a lot of facilities and good infrastructure. The college houses approximately about 4000 Undergraduate students and 380 Postgraduate students. This college has a number of facilities like Auditorium, e-Journal, NSS, NCC, Digital Library, Placement Cell to artist the students in all possible ways. Students who are unable to attend formal classes will pursue bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees through the Indira Gandhi National Open University’s distance education center.

  • Hostel Facilities: There are two hostels, one for male students and the other for female students, with a total capacity of 60 male students and 114 female students. Students from remote village areas are given priority. However, there are a number of private messes open.
  • Library Facilities: The Midnapore College (Autonomous) Central Library is equipped with completely computerized facilities. It is one of West Bengal’s largest and most comprehensive college libraries. Staff, students, and outside scholars can access a significant selection of rare and old reference books, journals, and periodicals.
