After completion of 4.5 years, students have to do a compulsory internship for 1 year in the college. Govt will pay u 42000 per month during the internship. After internship completion, there are no official placement opportunities in the BDS course. U have to stay in a private or govt hospital on a contractual basis which is slightly difficult or u can have your dental clinic or u can apply for a job as a dental surgeon/ MDS for which u have to work very hard.
You have to qualify Neet UG exam, and then participate in ojee / AIQ neet counseling with a registration fee of 1000 rupees. For 2022 the cutoff was around 530 marks and for 2023 it was around 540 marks. Our college is the oldest and only govt dental college in Odisha. As it is situated inside the prestigious SCB Medical College campus it is enriched with excellent patient flow, good infrastructure, and highly efficient faculties with all necessary study materials & instruments. And because it's a govt seat which is equivalent to MBBS I've chosen this. The bad aspects:- 1st the college outside is not very neat and clean, second the distance between dental and medical lecture halls is around 300 meters. Thirdly difficulty in balancing both MBBS and BDS subjects with practicals.
