IIAD Entrance Exam 2027 applications are open for admission to UDIT, the new name of the Indian Institute of Art and Design. Round 1 applications close on 30 November 2026, and the entrance test will be held on 5 and 6 December 2026 at the UDIT campus in Gurugram.
Design applicants take U-DAT, while management applicants take U-MAT. UDIT has announced four admission rounds for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in 2027-28.
The Indian Institute of Art and Design is now the University of Design, Innovation and Technology. Applications for 2027-28 admission are being accepted by UDIT. The former IIAD website also takes applicants to the new university website. The IIAD Entrance Exam name is still commonly used, but the university now calls its design test U-DAT and its management test U-MAT.
U-DAT is used for courses under the School of Design. U-MAT is used for courses under the School of Management. Both tests are part of a selection process that also includes portfolio evaluation and a personal interview. A student receives an admission offer only after completing the stages required for the chosen course.

The UDIT application form is available online. Applicants register with their name, email address and mobile number, verify the OTP and choose a design or management course. The selected course decides whether the applicant takes U-DAT or U-MAT.
UDIT has not published the application fee on its main admissions page. The amount shown at the payment step applies to the current form. Applicants should keep the submitted form and payment record because the same login is used for later admission updates.
Eligibility depends on the course level. Any stream is accepted for the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes covered by the current admission page.
Undergraduate applicants need to pass Class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognised board with at least 50% marks. Science, Commerce and Humanities students can apply. Students appearing for the Class 12 exam or waiting for their result can also submit the form and take the entrance test.
Postgraduate applicants need a bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognised college or university with at least 50% marks. Final-year students and students waiting for their graduation result can apply.
| Course level | Qualification | Minimum marks |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate | Class 12 or equivalent in any stream | 50% |
| Postgraduate | Graduation in any stream | 50% |
U-DAT and U-MAT serve different schools. A design applicant does not take the management paper, and a management applicant does not take the design paper.
U-DAT is used for B.Des courses in Communication Design, Animation Film Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Interior Architecture and Design, and Product Design. It also applies to M.Des courses in Communication Design and Interior Design and Styling, along with the current postgraduate diploma courses in Graphic Design and Interior Design.
U-MAT is used for BBA (Hons.) courses in Business Ventures and AI, Technology Business Management, Financial Analysis and FinTech, Marketing and Brand Strategy, Fashion Business Management, and Luxury Business Management. MBA Luxury and Fashion Business Management applicants also take U-MAT.
| Entrance test | School | Course levels | Main assessment areas |
|---|---|---|---|
| U-DAT | School of Design | B.Des, M.Des and PG Diploma | Aptitude, creative thinking, problem-solving and readiness for design study |
| U-MAT | School of Management | BBA (Hons.) and MBA | Aptitude, analytical thinking, problem-solving and readiness for management study |
UDIT describes U-DAT and U-MAT as aptitude tests. U-DAT focuses on creative thinking and design problem-solving, while U-MAT uses analytical thinking and problem-solving for management courses. The university also checks whether the applicant is ready for the chosen programme.
UDIT has not announced the number of questions, total marks, test time, detailed syllabus or negative marking for either test in 2027.
Admission has four main steps. The entrance test is followed by a portfolio evaluation and personal interview. Selected applicants then receive an offer letter and confirm their admission.

The portfolio stage gives design applicants a chance to show how they develop ideas and present creative work. The interview checks the applicant's interest in the course and readiness for university study. Management applicants follow the U-MAT selection process stated for their course.
UDIT has not announced separate admit-card and result dates for the four rounds. Registered applicants receive the test details for their selected course and admission round through the admission account and registered contact details.
The entrance result is one part of selection. Portfolio evaluation and the personal interview are also used before the university issues an offer letter. Meeting the minimum eligibility rule or taking the test does not by itself confirm admission.
UDIT offers merit-cum-means scholarships. Applicants who want to be considered can tell their relationship manager during the application process. Any scholarship offered is shown in the admission offer letter.
A scholarship decision is separate from the entrance-test result. The university considers merit and financial need under its scholarship rules. The written offer shows the course fee and the scholarship amount before enrolment.
