IIM Calcutta PhD Admission Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants are required to take CAT 2024 or other National-level tests (GMAT / GRE / GATE / UGC-JRF) depending on their chosen specialization (the test score should be valid on January 30th, 2025).
  • Candidates must have a Master’s degree or PG Diploma (2 years) in any discipline and a three-year Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.
  • CA candidates with a minimum of 50% marks or CS/CMA candidates with a minimum of 55% marks, with a B.com degree are eligible.
  • Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree with a 6.5 CGPA or equivalent can apply.
  • Non-engineering candidates who have undergone 10+2+5 years will be considered eligible to apply.
  • CMA (USA) candidates are also eligible to apply for the Doctoral Programme.
  • MBA/PGDM holder of any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.00 or equivalent marks does not need to take any Admission Test.
  • Applicants must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in either the Secondary or the Higher Secondary Examination of a Board (or equivalent).
  • A final-year student of a Master's or 4-year Bachelor's degree can also apply, such candidates if selected, will be provisionally admitted provided they complete all requirements for obtaining the degree before June 30th, 2025.

Note:

  • The reserved category candidates need to submit a copy of the SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PwD certificate.
  • A candidate can apply to a maximum of two areas of specialization.
  • Candidates who are unable to pay the application fee online may send a Demand Draft payable to Kolkata in favor of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.

IIM Calcutta PhD Referee Details

  • Candidates must provide the referee information in the online application form. Once submitted, referee details cannot be changed.
  • Two recommendations are mandatory for a candidate applying for the Ph.D.
  • At least one referee should preferably be a faculty member of a university, college, or institution of higher studies and research.
  • The application will be treated as incomplete without the two recommendation details.
  • The recommendation needs to be submitted online by the referee.
  • Only official email IDs of the referees will be accepted.
