Shirpur, 22nd September 2023: Two talented scholars from NMIMS University, Ms. Amruta Mali and Ms. Poonam Patil, pursuing their Final Year B.Sc.(Hons.) Agriculture at the School of Agricultural Science & Technology, Shirpur, have surfaced as shining stars at the SmartIdeathon Competition, held at GITAM University Hyderabad. This prestigious event was organized in association with Startup India, IIC, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, and Northeastern University, Boston, USA, drawing actors from universities and institutes across the country.

Amruta and Poonam, the authors of Agro-India, an action under SVKM’s NMIMS – Academy of Agricultural Science & Technology, Shirpur, showcased their estimable invention during the competition. They presented a board game which has evolved into a comprehensive simulation of the agrarian ecosystem. This game captures the complications of crop operation, resource allocation, and request dynamics in a charming and educational manner.

The SmartIdeathon Competition, a ‘ Pupil pitching competition, ’ saw the brace advance to the final rounds, securing a coveted position among the Top 8 Finalists from competitors across the nation.

The competition drew competitors from different fields of study and was an exculpation of the power of ideas and their implicit to bring about big change in the diligence. The scholars ’ passion for agriculture and strategic thinking redounded in a conception that combined these two rudiments into an agriculture-grounded board game. The process involved refining the game mechanics, designing the board, and contriving challenges that tested their invention and creativity.

For the two scholars, reaching the top 8 isn't only a particular palm, but also a confirmation of the multitudinous hours they spent brainstorming, designing, and enriching the game. It speaks volumes about their capability for interdisciplinary thinking and the capability to bridge gaps between traditional diligence and ultramodern invention.

School of Agricultural Science & Technology (SAST), Shirpur is the first academy of Agriculture under SVKM’s NMIMS to be started in 2019 to bring substance to the small and borderline ranch holders.
