- If iam being completely honest the only one hings I like about here is my friends irrespective of seniority. Other than that there is nothing special to like here🫠
- Campus placements and hope for better job . That's the only things keeling me from running away from here😂
Dislikes
- I would need a list longer than this . First of all even though we are part of IMU CHENNAI the btech department is getting excluded from every program.( Since we are in a separate campus and programs are held in the main campus)
- And they are treating us differently Rules are entirely different in both campuses . We feel like we are in prison. There is more freedom in main campus. They don't provide us the facilities for the fees we pay. We don't have a gym or a football ground. We are not allowed to protest against anything here.
Remarks :
I chose this course because it provides a better job and future me. Marine industry is a vast industry. There is an entrance exam called IMUCET , conducted once per year. The exam was comparatively easy . There is no fixed cutoff everything is based on rank list. When I wrote the xam there was a ?1000 fee for th exam. After the rank list is published there will be counseling. In which we have to give allotment. We can choose any course in any of the IMU campuses . The seat will be allocated according to rank list and of course there will be reservation for Sc/St and OBC.
Course Curriculum Overview :
In my experience btech in IMU chennai is not profitable. We'll be in a separate campus while all other courses will be in another campus. Evry program will be held there and we don't even get permission to go. Th IMU chennai btech campus is the IMU Headquarters therefore it's very strict here in everything. But I should say that we have excellent placements here compared to other BTECH ME campuses.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship are available only after 4th sem. Popular interships attended by our seniyare fire and safety , marine machinery familiarisation etc. interships will be in ports or shipyards. If we are placed in 3rd year or before the respective companies will call us for interships.
Placement Experience :
The only reason I chose this campus for the course is due to placement. Placements are good all you have to do is pass evry sem without arrears. If you have arrears try to clear them as soon as possible. Many popular shipping ompanies come here for placement for example Mersec , synergy , fleet , msc , msi , dockendale , 7 islands and there are many more .
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
During admission process we have to pay 10K. But that will be added to the first sem programme fee. And 30 K as caution deposit. After that ? 2,75,000 per year . We have to pay exam fee separately , ?500 per xam + GST . And for reevaluation also ?500 , the sme for arrears . Other than these maybe there will be a ?1000 payment for some marine membership. Iam not sure of the details. There are scholarships available for OBC and Sc/St and General ews category. Also scholarships are available for girls separately.
Campus Life :
As I said college life is boring as hell here. Each and every day is the same . On the day of Diwali and Holi there will be celebrations here . Talking about college fests there was 3 last year . One of them was conducted by btech so we had full part in that. The other two was conducted by mba and bsc so we didn't get permission to go . Every programs will be conducted in bsc campus only . Since this campus is hq they will be given permission to conduct anything here . From last year there is houswise sports competition it includes games as well as athletics. In this campus there is basketball court, badminton court and tennis court. They are buliding a football ground for one year as of now it is not completed yet . And there is no gymnasium in this campus . In bsc campus there is gym , swimming pool and football ground.
Hostel Facilities :
There are three hostels in this campus . Two hostels have sme mess and the other one is little far away with separate mess. Each room will house 2 students with 2 beds , 2cupboards , 2 shelfs , , 2 tables and 2 chairs. Washroom and toilets are common in both ends of each floor. The course is a residential course so staying in campus hostel is mandatory. we have hostel attendance in mrng and night . The mess food is not th best food but all I can say is you can survive with that that's it . There is non veg in 5 of 7 days in a week. Once we are adjusted to the food it will be ok.

Placements are given in high reputed companies, even companies like Microsoft, IOS, intel are also collaborated with the college. And for animation they provide placement in" Toonz Animation, Techno park, Thiruvananthapuram.

Placement Experience :
Placements are good like when you rech the 4th semester you will be told to register the Placement portal and you will be charged 5000 to register in that Placement portal after that people from good companies or professional Placement trainers will come and train you give you classes the classes will be there until 5th semester end. After that many Placement offers will come to you in your given emails and you will be able to apply in those companies if you are eligible they will contact you. Internship offers the staffs itself give all the active Internship details in the college whatsapp group it will be created once your classes begin.

Placement Experience :
The eligibilty varies it's better to no arrears during placements average package could 3.5LPA Around 60 percent is placed I got placed. IN our college there are various companies that come for placemrnt like Capegimini, hcl, wipro, airtel, Ericcson.
Good college and value for money
Placement Experience :
Around 70% of the students from this course got placed, which is kinda decent I think. The highest package went up to 21 LPA and the lowest was around 5 LPA. Some of the main companies that came for recruitment were TCS, Zoho and Wipro. For internships also, students got chances in companies like Zoho, Amazon and Wipro. Most of the roles offered were related to HR, not much technical roles from what I heard.

The faculty of this college is good there are strick and the curriculum are good and every one in the college will face 2 test before the main exam internal test one and internal test 2 are the two test and practical will be taken place a side

The fee structure in the college is high and for different course the fee is different for ELECTRONIC AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING I am paying ?90000 and for bus ? 16000 and someone in my class is paying ?125000 so not everyone is paying the same amount in the college
