Punjab University: The basics

- The university has beautiful infrastructure and many food outlets with amazing food which is very affordable and accessible.
- There is Raksha or autorickshaw for transportation inside the university campus from one area to another for a very cheap rate of ₹20 point
- The new university has great exposure and great environment for socialising and making friends.
Dislikes
- As it’s a government university, it might Take university longer to process your queries.
- In rare cases, the teachers might not inform you if they will be absent for the day, but this happens in very rare cases.
Remarks :
There is no particular exam that has to be given, or there is no Interview for selection in Punjab University for the course of MA In Psychology. The admission is based on your merit of bachelors In psychology with honours. There are about 70 seats and the selection totally depends on the merit list that is released by Punjab University.
Course Curriculum Overview :
In the first year, you have to study the compulsory subjects, such as research and statistics, cognitive psychology, social psychology, et cetera. But in second year, you have the choice to select any three or subjects that you want to specialise in, but research and statistics is compulsory for all students. There are many options such as media, psychology, positive psychology, organisational psychology, counselling, psychology, clinical psychology, child psychology Et cetera, that you can choose from in your second year. so there are two mid semester exams that is taken by each of the professor in each of the subject in your second year and then you have two main exams, the first semester exam and second semester exam. The first semester exam is taken during the month of December and the second semester Exams takes place in the month of May or June. There are many professors. There are two main professors to assist professors and 4 to 5 PhD scholars that teaches you.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Yearly fees of Punjabi University – 1st year Rs 9670 + tuition fee Rs 2355. 2nd year Rs 10300 + tuition fee Rs 2355. The total fee is equal to Rs 24680. There are many scholarship that is provided by Punjab University For example PUAA(Not applicable for Psychology student), Post-matric scholarship scheme for minorities, Top class education came for SC students, Post-matric scholarship for Students with disabilities, etc. you can visit Punjab University scholarship page for more details.
Campus Life :
Punjabi University is really famous for its exposure and social life. There are different types of fest, activities, concerts that tend to take place in the university campus. After every 2 to 3 months. There is an amazing library that is open For 24/7. This can be accessed by the student of Punjab University. You will find different types of books journals in the library Very easily. There are discounts for students for gym membership and swimming membership. In the university itself. There are different types of social groups such as rotaract group etc.
Hostel Facilities :
I did not personally opt for hostel, but many of my friends dead, and the food is okay, and it’s very cheap Is what I have heard of. There is both non-veg and vegetarian options in the hostels and the of campus student can actually go and have their lunch in the hostels which is allowed. The Allocation of hostel depends upon the merit list as well. Students who has scored higher tend to get hostels, much more easily, they Are extremely affordable. If you want to rent a room, you can easily find one in sector 15, which is adjacent to Punjab University.

College offers on campus placements opportunities in the 4th year of the course . Many reputed companies like Apple , Amazon , PhonePe , Maruti Suzuki etc visits campus for rhe placements. Highest and average package is around 60 lakhs and 17 lakhs respectively . 90 % students got placed this year

I don't have much idea about eligibility criteria because I have been in the clg 3 months. Company like Jp Morgan godrej britannia etc are the tip recruiters in our branch. This semester My H and Q company have given intern to many students. I am planning for government jobs. 40% of students are places in my branch.

Placemnts are better than other nits like hamirpur nit Jalandhar and nit kurukshetra also better than some private college like thapar its avg is like 13 lakh and median is 12 lakh for electrcal its same median avg is 14.5 and cse avg goes 20+ and ai avg 19 lakhs

placements are good and you can get the official data on college websity of my branch 94 placed out of 127 and avg package is 13.1 and median is 12 lpa but cse avg this year goes 20 + lpa but lower branch like civil has some low placemnt stats as many students go for foriegn ms or higher studies or gate psu from civil

I was never interested in this course but due to family stress I was forced to do this and later on it was much intrested than any other subject. The beginning and end of universe is all what engineering teaches us and if somebody will find it not interesting then he should cut himself from this world.

The placement is quite very low for my department and my course. University is practicing for encouraging more companies for our course placement. It is improving but now the placement is low for my course . Like from last year only 5 were placed out of 60.
