College life in SD college
Likes
- The college infrastructure is good. You can find everything within the campus. There is a mess, medical room, different kinds of labs and much more.
- The faculty of the college is very good. They are cooperative and always helps if you need anything. There are staff rooms for the teachers and they help you there also in your studies if you need extra classes.
Dislikes
- They don't provide internships to the undergraduate students and if they want, they have to find themselves.
- The classes are bit old fashioned. They are not renovated and desks are wooden with the dust sometimes.
Remarks :
I am from Hinachal and for us chandigarh is as far as we can go from our home so chandigarh was my decision. If I talk about this college I choose this college because ggdsd college is the best government college in chandigarh. It has high reputation. It is best among the best. It has come forth in every fests and Co curriculum activities and come first. If I talk about the admission, the admission can taken in various aspects. As it is a semi government college, the first way is through merit list by applying online for the different colleges in chandigarh. Then there is counseling rounds happens in college and according to that students got selected. Then there are also written test and interview If someone is interested in taking admission but most of the time teachers prefer counseling rounds to analyze the students whether they want them in the college or not. Admission process Is simple If someone wants to take admission.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose BBA because in 12th I chose commerce. So I had better understanding of commerce line and I would love start my own business in future. So BBA was the perfect lune for me to study about different aspects of the business and yo gain knowledge about different fields. The faculty was also very cooperative. They help you if you need any help in work. The teachers are well qualified and even are PhD holders. The method of teaching of the teachers are also good. But they are more of theoretical methods than the practical. The practical work are less as it is more of the there part in the textbooks because there are basics in the textbook in the start. The exams were on time. Before main exams in every semester there will be MST (mid semester terms) to analyze yourself. The mst were conducted around 1.5 months prior to the main exams. The difficulty level for the exams were not that much. The mst will be easy but the main exams difficulty will be of moderate level.
Internships Opportunities :
No I haven't opted any internship from my college. On first place college don't provide internship to under graduate students. The internship if someone wants to do, he have to find himself the internship and then he can tell in the college that got the internship.
Placement Experience :
The placement and job opportunities after the graduation are not that good. Ofcourse there are companies who comes in the college for placement drives but the college did not train students for the placement and there are not much companies to apply for. There is also a problem which is lack of experience and knowledge of the students which acts as a barrier in the placement. The eligibility criteria for the placement is that you should have passes in all your previous exams. And have good grades. Companies like delliot came in the placement drives. The highest packages as a freshers would be 10 lakh ctc and average would be 5 lakh. I am currently doing my MBA after bba so I can gain some knowledge and skills and can't be a fresher.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
So the per year fees was different in every year. In first year it was 41000 then in second year that was around 42000 and in final year it was 45000. And I guess it is increasing a bit in upcoming year as every year they raise the fees a bit. So I paid around 1,30,000 in 3 years. Also excluding this there is also examination fees apart from this which is around 3000 and it may vary according to pu regulations. There is also different kinds of scholarships for students who have good grades in there 12th examination or have some financial problems. There is no other fees except these in the campus. There are reservations for different castes also and there fees are low as compare to general category students. There are also penalties for low on attendance and if you are failed in MST around 4000 if include both. And the attendance fine depends on your percentage like how much you have attended the classes. There is no lab fees or other management fees. Everything is included in start.
Campus Life :
The social life of the campus is awesome. You can go anywhere you want and do whatever you want. There are various fest held in the campus. There will be inter college fest and also there is panaash named fest of sd college. There are also cubs fest like prom night by enacts club and riwayat by rotract club. These are fest and also there are different other clubs who make there stalls in the college like mun club, readers club, etc. These fest happens every year around may or April. Now I if I talk about books and journals in the library, there are alot of books in the library which can seek your interest there if you are a reader. There are two floors of the library. One is where you can silently do your work and one is where you can read books kept in the library . There are also different sports activities in the college and college students also goes for inter college tournaments of cricket, badminton, volleyball, etc. There is also a website of college which is ggdsd college.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostels of boys and girls are opposite to each other and one can't see from one to another as in between there is a college named sd college. To apply for the room the college provide a mail where you fill your details and other data like where are you from etc. The hostel mess is not so good not so bad. The food is eatable and they also provides munchies and other food products. There is one building and in one room ther will be 2,3 or 4 people According to your choice which room you want. The room is not that big but facilities are above Average. Even if someone want the room or pg there are alot of places near college like 46 sector or 44b sector or 33 sector or even in 32 sector but those will be a bit high prices. So all and all hostel food quality is good, the infrastructure is good and amenities they are providing are above average and there are also different pg and rooms near college.

College offers on campus placements opportunities in the 4th year of the course . Many reputed companies like Apple , Amazon , PhonePe , Maruti Suzuki etc visits campus for rhe placements. Highest and average package is around 60 lakhs and 17 lakhs respectively . 90 % students got placed this year

I don't have much idea about eligibility criteria because I have been in the clg 3 months. Company like Jp Morgan godrej britannia etc are the tip recruiters in our branch. This semester My H and Q company have given intern to many students. I am planning for government jobs. 40% of students are places in my branch.

Placemnts are better than other nits like hamirpur nit Jalandhar and nit kurukshetra also better than some private college like thapar its avg is like 13 lakh and median is 12 lakh for electrcal its same median avg is 14.5 and cse avg goes 20+ and ai avg 19 lakhs

placements are good and you can get the official data on college websity of my branch 94 placed out of 127 and avg package is 13.1 and median is 12 lpa but cse avg this year goes 20 + lpa but lower branch like civil has some low placemnt stats as many students go for foriegn ms or higher studies or gate psu from civil

Course Curriculum Overview :
I was never interested in this course but due to family stress I was forced to do this and later on it was much intrested than any other subject. The beginning and end of universe is all what engineering teaches us and if somebody will find it not interesting then he should cut himself from this world.
