SKCET - Beautiful Studying Heaven or the Opposite of a Good College Life?

- The library is one of my most favorite parts of college. Its huge with a wide collection of books, and allows for a lot of peaceful studying. There are discussion rooms with a table and 4-8 chairs around it to allow students to discuss without disturbing others.
- I also love how beautiful the campus is, with lush green grass at every corner. The campus is quite aesthetic and puts the mind at ease.
Dislikes
- The lack of culturals is a very prominent dislike that is expressed by many students.
- Students also feel the lack of holidays that they are given when compared to nearby colleges.
Remarks :
This college comes under the Anna university group of colleges which means that it qualifies for TNEA counselling. I had opted for this college as 2nd on my list, and got it in the 2nd round of counselling. Upon downloading and viewing the syllabuses for all the courses from the college website, I found that Mechatronics engineering had the most comprehensive course, and hence chose it. My cutoff for the TNEA counselling was 162.5, which is not a lot. I was lucky to get into this college with a low cutoff. It helps to maintain a cutoff of 170 and above to guarantee a seat here.
Course Curriculum Overview :
As mentioned previously, i chose this course as it had a comprehensive syllabus that covered both core and non-core subjects. Because of this aspect however, the course is vast and students need to study and remember a lot. The faculty are all highly qualified, with many of them being PhD holders. Most if not all of the faculty have 5+ years of experience teaching in this college. The faculty are very good at teaching and adopt effective teaching methods that leave no student confused. The subjects are usually taught in a combination of English and Tamil, in the ratio 60:40 approximately. This may not be good enough for NRI students or students from neighbouring states who may not be well versed in tamil. There are 2 terms in a year. The semester exams are moderately difficult, with marks awarded being heavily dependent on the presentation of the paper.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships on the other hand are a predicament of sorts. They are easily available around the city of Coimbatore, where the college is based. However, the internship thus obtained wouldn't be something worth bragging about. Its usually a small company offering an unpaid internship for around a month. Students are much better off getting an internship outside the city. Students who are pursuing an internship are required to show proof, only after which they will be marked as OD instead of absent.
Placement Experience :
Placements are one of the main plus points of the college. Students in even core departments are given industry training through programming classes right from the first semester. Students are also given additional placement training from the 4th semester, like Aptitude and Conversational skills. Companies generally start visiting from the 3rd year, and students are required to maintain a CGPA of 7 and above to qualify. The offers made are quite substantial, with the average package for a core company being 6 LPA and 7 LPA for a non-core company.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees for all courses in the college is 1,50,000 for students who enrolled till 2023. The students who enrolled in 2024, however, had to pay a fees of 1,75,000. This is a significant increase and it is not confirmed if this change is permanent, and whether it will increase again next year. The above mentioned fees are for the students who have come through TNEA counselling. For students who have come through Management Quota, the fees is 2,00,000 INR per year. The fees is expected to be paid in total at the beginning of the academic year, with no option for installments. It can be paid online, or on-campus at the bank onsite. There is also an additional fee called the exam fee in each sem, which can either be paid along with the year fees or separately. For even semesters its around 3800 INR while for odd semesters, its 4800 INR. The scholarships available are mainly the 7.5% quota for government school students and the sports quota.
Campus Life :
The campus itself is quite huge, with green scapes stretching wide. There are three types of buildings on campus. Department blocks, classroom blocks and non-academic blocks. There are totally 6 classroom blocks, with the 6th one being built very recently. There are 6 classrooms per floor, and 3 floors including the ground floor in each classroom block. In terms of clubs, there are many for each department. The clubs in my department are the E Kart club, the Solar Kart club, the E Bike club and the Drone club. Students are required to pay a joining fee of 8000 INR, and all the vehicles constructed within the club are solely from the expenses of the students. These vehicles are then taken to competitions of which there are many. In terms of fests, there are no fests. Culturals is one of the main setbacks of this college, with the only events being academic. There is a severe lack of culturals here and students really feel its absence.
Hostel Facilities :
While I personally am not in the hostel, many of the friends were, and they never left any good reviews. The yearly fees for the hostel is 2,00,000 INR, but the food isn't worth even half of that. Only vegetarian food is served in the mess, and even the veg food is not appetizing. Students are also not allowed to order food from outside through Swiggy, Zomato or other food delivery services.

Placements are good like when you rech the 4th semester you will be told to register the Placement portal and you will be charged 5000 to register in that Placement portal after that people from good companies or professional Placement trainers will come and train you give you classes the classes will be there until 5th semester end. After that many Placement offers will come to you in your given emails and you will be able to apply in those companies if you are eligible they will contact you. Internship offers the staffs itself give all the active Internship details in the college whatsapp group it will be created once your classes begin.

The eligibilty varies it's better to no arrears during placements average package could 3.5LPA Around 60 percent is placed I got placed. IN our college there are various companies that come for placemrnt like Capegimini, hcl, wipro, airtel, Ericcson.
Good college and value for money
Placement Experience :
Around 70% of the students from this course got placed, which is kinda decent I think. The highest package went up to 21 LPA and the lowest was around 5 LPA. Some of the main companies that came for recruitment were TCS, Zoho and Wipro. For internships also, students got chances in companies like Zoho, Amazon and Wipro. Most of the roles offered were related to HR, not much technical roles from what I heard.

The fee structure in the college is high and for different course the fee is different for ELECTRONIC AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING I am paying ?90000 and for bus ? 16000 and someone in my class is paying ?125000 so not everyone is paying the same amount in the college
