- The professors are well educated and highly experienced and curriculum are designed in great flexibility.
- The freedom offered to students in incomparable to other colleges. There is no entry/exit time for hostel and campus. And food courts/canteen are open almost 24/7.
Dislikes
- The academics are tough and there is very high competition among peers to get grades.
- Girls to boys ratio is very less especially in branches like civil and mechanical.
Remarks :
IIT M offers the greatest flexibility in curriculum and is closer to my proximity. Also, it is ranked NIRF #1. It has widespread alumni network. For securing a B.Tech seat in any IIT, it is mandatory to clear CBSE 12th board exam with 75% marks or any other equivalent state board exams, JEE mains and JEE advanced, which is considered the toughest entrance exam in India. The application fees for JEE Adv. is 3000Rs. It can be applied only by the top 1,50,000 who cleared JEE mains. Usually, students start their preparation 2 years prior to exam.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I am very interested in electronics and circuits. I aspire to work in semiconductor industry in future. Faculty:student ratio is about 1:10. Electrical department has the highest number of faculty in the institute and the most funded research and innovation. Almost all professors in EE, have done their masters or Ph.D in the USA.
Internships Opportunities :
I was part of CFI where I learnt Machine Learning, Embedded programming, PCB designing. Such type of skills are not part of curriculum, but I learnt it through projects. There were lot of like-minded peers in CFI, and it was highly beneficial.
Placement Experience :
Companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman sachs, Nvidia offer many intern offers to students at their 3rd year. Most students get into jobs with a pre-placement offer from these companies. In 2024 season, there were 445 offers and 407 PPOs. Also, there were 15 international offers. Out of these, 25 offers were more than 1 Cr per annum. Most job offers comes under Engineering &Technology and IT& Software development. Totally, 480+ companies visited IIT M. Average package is around 22 LPA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tuition fees is 1 lakh fer semester and hostel&mess fess is 40k. If family income is less than 1 lakh per yr, then full concession of tution fess is availed. Same for SC/ST students. There are plenty of sholarships that can be availed. Some are based on your GPA score and many are based on your family income per year.
Campus Life :
Saarang is the annual cultural festival held in January attracting a crowd of 80000+ people across India. Shaastra is the tech-fest where various tech projects are shown and several science&tech competitions, summits, lectures and lectures are conducted. Every event, college fest, innovation clubs like CFI, are coordinated by dedicated group of students which inculcates leadership skills. CFI (Centre for Innovation) boasts around 20 technical clubs like Electronics, AI, Cybersecurity and competition clubs like Mars rover team, Rocketry team.
Hostel Facilities :
IIT M has 16 male hostels and 6 female hostels. Each hostel has 24 hours Hot water supply for both drinking and bathing. Each hostel is equipped with many sport facilities like badminton courts, Table tennis etc, For freshers, it is triple sharing room and from 2nd year onwards, it is double-sharing. AC facility is not provided. Each room has high-speed LAN connection. Mess food are not as good as compared to other IITs. However, there are plenty of canteens within campus that offer at cheap price.

Placement Experience :
Placements are good like when you rech the 4th semester you will be told to register the Placement portal and you will be charged 5000 to register in that Placement portal after that people from good companies or professional Placement trainers will come and train you give you classes the classes will be there until 5th semester end. After that many Placement offers will come to you in your given emails and you will be able to apply in those companies if you are eligible they will contact you. Internship offers the staffs itself give all the active Internship details in the college whatsapp group it will be created once your classes begin.

Placement Experience :
The eligibilty varies it's better to no arrears during placements average package could 3.5LPA Around 60 percent is placed I got placed. IN our college there are various companies that come for placemrnt like Capegimini, hcl, wipro, airtel, Ericcson.
Good college and value for money
Placement Experience :
Around 70% of the students from this course got placed, which is kinda decent I think. The highest package went up to 21 LPA and the lowest was around 5 LPA. Some of the main companies that came for recruitment were TCS, Zoho and Wipro. For internships also, students got chances in companies like Zoho, Amazon and Wipro. Most of the roles offered were related to HR, not much technical roles from what I heard.

The faculty of this college is good there are strick and the curriculum are good and every one in the college will face 2 test before the main exam internal test one and internal test 2 are the two test and practical will be taken place a side
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure in the college is high and for different course the fee is different for ELECTRONIC AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING I am paying ?90000 and for bus ? 16000 and someone in my class is paying ?125000 so not everyone is paying the same amount in the college
