NMIT - A complete tour
Likes
- Good part about college - 1) Faculty - helpful and knowledgeable. Do take some extra classes if necessary.
- 2) Hostel and mess - Better food than most of the hostels. Hostels have free wifi, water, electricity etc
- 3) Clubs and societies - You can get into singing, dancing, drama, literature, aeronautical, technical, sports, business etc clubs.
Dislikes
- Internships - No internship is provided by the college and you need to search it off campus.
- More mid semester exams and all of them are compulsory compared to other colleges in the country. 85% mandatory attendance.
- Uniform in 1st year is compulsory. 2 different uniform is there, one regular and one for mechanical labs. Both are compulsory for all the branches.
Remarks :
I gave Comedk exam which consists of MCQ questions based out of +1 and +2 syllabus. Ranks are alloted based on marks scored in the exam. Colleges are alloted according to the ranks and no interview round is there. There are multiple counselling rounds and you can change branch/ college in each round. I have selected this college because it is autonomous in nature, good placement data and good reputation in Bengaluru. Negatives is that college is a little far fron the city and the campus is quite small.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose CSE because it is the best branch in NMIT and the teachers are very good compared to other branches. The faculty is well qualified with the most of them having Phd and others are also persuing. Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. We have 3 mid semester exams (all compulsory) + 1 final exam in each semester and each subject. There will be 2-4 lab subjects per semester based on the semester. The exams will be easy and all the questions will be covered either in class or in question bank/ previous year questions.
Internships Opportunities :
I did some interships but that were all off campus and in small startups. College does not provide internships from there end and it is compulsory to do internship in 7th semester. This can be taken as a negative but, now the college is improving a little bit and do call some companies for internship but, not sufficient for all the students.
Placement Experience :
All the students with no current backlog are eligible for the placements. Placement training is also provided which is not useful but charged 5k compulsorily (one time). Good companies visit the campus with max package around 35 LPA and avg package around 5-6 LPA. For branches like CSE, ISE - the placement ratio is pretty good and most of the students get placed - 90 to 95% students gets placed. 70-80 companies visit the campus in the period of 6 months to 1 year. MNCs and startup are both included in this. If you want to pursue higher studies, college do provide some assistance but not very helpful.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For Comedk students - 2.4 to 2.5 lacs per year tuition fees including lab fees, registration fees, development fees etc. Exam fees will be charged extra - 2k yearly. For Management fees will be - 4 lacs per year tuition fees + other fees is similar. For CET students - 90k to 1 lacs total fees + other fees same as normal students. Books and notebooks needs to purchased from the college store only which may cost 2-3k yearly.
Campus Life :
Name of the fest is Anaadyanta and it conducted once per year between april to may. The fest fees is extra - 1k per year. Clubs and social societies are also there based on science, culture and technology domains and you can opt to be in any in any year. We do have inter and intra sports meet in the college and we have college teams for most of the sports. College has ground for 3-4 sports. College library is there and you can issue books for 2-3 weeks and all the course related books will be available in the library so, no need to purchase the books from yourself.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel fees is - 1 lacs yearly. Mess fees is 30k yearly and food will be provided 4 times daily - breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Food quality is good compared to other colleges and the all mess is clean and tidy. There is 6 hostels - 4 for boys and 2 for girls. 1st year hostels are seperate. 2/3 room sharing options are there. Room cleaning and washroom cleaning is done daily. Hostels are equipped with water dispensers, cameras and security guard etc. Daily bus is also provided for free in the evening towards nearby market and mall. Library facility in the evening is provided for the hostelites. Playground can be throughout the day. Online parcels like amazon, flipkart etc is also available.

For our degree program we have well placement opportunities other than bsc agriculture and btech biotechnology. For our college only company will come like itc,shula wine, Nestle etc and they offer good package minimum around 4lakh and some have aptitude test and interview some direct interview

There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students

The placement and job opportunities are good in our college. Our college provides us only with UG Courses so most of the students pursue higher education after that. The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.

The criteria is the cgpa should be above 7 and the companies visited are wipro, flipkart, amazon etc. the highest package is 48 lakh per annum and lowest pacuis 3 lakh per annum and the average is 6 lakh per annum

The placement of the college is excellent in the cse stream it has an average package of 9 lakh per annum and highest package of 38 lakh per annum it is a good salary or package for an engineer so it is good placement
BSc Physics at Jain University

Faculties are well qualified and some of them are doing active research. However the college does not have a very active research environment but they do not hinder a student from taking up projects outside. They provide all support like recommendations, attendance permissions etc.

All the faculties are well qualified and quite renowned in their research fields. However some of them have this quality of holding personal grudge and targeting. Some assume you know a lot and don't teach properly and expect more from the student. There is a lot of pressure even with internals, assignments and other things.

For placement, The student shouldnt have any backlogs. There are companies that are stated as "Great Places to Work" as well as some startups that come for college recruitment. The highest package last year (2023) was 6000000, and the average package of the university is approximately 850000. A good percentage of people who opt for placements do get placed decntly. My plans after my BBA are writing GMAT and going for my MBA abroad in a good college.
