LNMIIT - the good, the bad and the expensive.
Likes
- The peer group is pretty good so you have to stay focused on studies. They teach stuff which are relevant for the current market scenario so you are always well prepared. There are also plenty of opportunities for projects with professors during the entirety of the year.
- The college in pretty much entirely run by students and the management rarely bothers you. The sports facilities although less, are well maintained and it is not frowned upon to give time to sports. Overall the college life is pretty chill.
Dislikes
- The fees is exorbitantly high and they do not provide the appropriate amount of facilities for the amount of fees they take. The sports facilities are lacking, there is no swimming pool. The library and the gym are a bit small. The campus is located outside the city so its a big hassle and expensive to order food from outlets in the city. The outlets inside the campus are few in number and not good enough for every ocassion.
- The academics are very very tough. There are gaps between examinations. The things students are taught in 2n- 3rd year in other college are taught in first year here which makes it hard to get higher CGPAs that are required in future if you want to switch to MBA or go to foreign universities.
Remarks :
I scored 95.5 percentile in JEE. Since I wasn't getting any good branches at NITs and IIITs at that percentile, I wanted a private college with a small and filtered out peer group and LNMIIT was fitting my needs perfectly. There is no reservation at LNMIIT which means every student here has scored more than ~94 percentile in JEE to be here. JEE mains score and boards are the two different exams through which you can join this institution. How ever only 2-3 seats are reserved for boards toppers and rest of the seats are filled by JEE rankers. I prepared for JEE by doing coaching for years and mostly with the help of online resources for practice.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The academics are a bit on the tougher side. However, they do start preparing you pretty well for future interviews/placement drives from the first year itself. The coding culture of this college is famed although recently it has been on a bit of a decline. The faculties are well qualified with most of them being from IITs in some capacity or the other. The term exams are timely but the question level is way above what is considered normal in other engineering institutions which leads to the average CGPA of the whole batch being on the lower side as compared to other unis.
Internships Opportunities :
I haven't opted for internships yet since I am in first year. TAship here is available from 2nd year if you have good CG in the particular subject and they pay around 2000 rupees for 10 hours of work. You can also opt for projects in collaboration with professors from the first year itself if interested.
Placement Experience :
Placements are above average for an engineering college however from an ROI point of perspective it is bad. So it's recommended to take this college only when your family is financially stable. The eligibility criteria is set by the companies usually at around 6.5-7 CG. The criteria set by the college is 5 CG for campus placement. Deloitte, media net, samsung etc are the primary recruiters. Media net offers around the highest packages and they take around 15 students every year. The highest packages for on campus placement is around 55 lakhs for each branches. The average package for each branches hover around 12 lakh while for CSE it is around 15 lakhs. Percentage of students getting placed is above 85 every year. I plan to do an MBa or get a tech job after getting my degree
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The first year tuition fee is 550000. It increases at the rate of the 10 percent every year. The hostel/accomodation and mess per semester costs around rs 57000. The total fee for your complete btech is around 28 lakh rupees. There are no financial benefits for students from reserved castes. How ever there are scholarships for students whose family struggle financially. There is also merit based scholarship present. If you score above 9.25 CG, there's an scholarship of 25 thousand. If you score above 9.5 CG then there's a scholarship of 35 thousand and so on.
Campus Life :
The social life is pretty decent although the small campus size is a bit of a mood downer. There are a total of three main fests. One each for Sports, SciTech and Cultural. They are called Desportivos, Plinth and Vivacity respectively. They are always held during January-Feb. Alongside there are also three smaller inter college fests conducted in preparation for these fests, namely Conquest, Quantz and Gusto. Most of the books available in the library are for academic reading and not for recreational stuff. The sports facilities are not up to the mark for the amount of fees they take. There are 3 badminton courts, 1 tennis court, 2 basketball courts, 1 football ground, 1 cricket ground and 2 volleyball courts. A swimming pool is under construction but it will take time. The entire college except for academics is run by students, which means all clubs are led by students. Even the admission process is taken care of by a student group called C-CELL.
Hostel Facilities :
The food quality is decent however it takes some time to get accustomed to the taste. PGs staying is not allowed unless you're approved for some special circumstances. The fees is on the lower side compared to other college and the hostel rooms are fine. Most hostels are equipped with ACs or vent ACs. Until 5th semester everyone stays in double sharing rooms after which they move into single sharing rooms.

I heard that btech is no one here for academics and placements for women so its worth it. There are lots of sports opportunities wherever you want you can achieve like horse riding squash etc. theres aviation as well for the girls to fly and achieve their dreams

You just have to be a student of last year for applying in internship programs and placements. You have to master any skill and then you can get placement. Many small companies helds campaigns in the university and appoint students for job. The average package is around 20-30 per annum. The highest is around 40 to 50 lakh and lowest is around 10 to 20 lakh per annum. 60% of students gets placement in companies . My plans after getting the degree are to master a skill and then apply for a job in a well known company.

Campus recruitment training is provided to all course students and it depends on the student whether they want to opt for it or not. After CRT, different companies come to the campus for their recruitment drive.

There is no campus placement here. Students who passed out from here some are finding jobs, some had their good family business and just wanted to get a degree and some started their own startup. College don't provide you any future security.
