Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences (College Review)

Dr.Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences is one of the best known dental college in India. It comes under Punjab University and is affiliated with GMCH Chandigarh. This college offers a professional environment, the teachers are approachable and the best part is the patient flow is tremendously good. Course Curriculum Overview :
I always wanted to make a career in healthcare field. Being a dental surgeon I get a chance to serve people and it also makes me skilled and self sufficient. Talking about the college. In the first year we have 4 subjects and for each subject there are almost 3 faculties to look after. The teachers are well qualified most of them are Dr. themselves. The teaching methods differ from teacher to teacher but they do prefer applied knowledge over text knowledge. I mean like in anatomy if some chapter is taught you are demonstrated everything on the cadaver to get a visual knowledge of what we studies. Every week we have a tutorial and viva for the required subject. We have a mid term, A mock final and the Finals. The subject is new there's a lot to study also there's a way to present your answer so it would take some time to get a hang of it.
Placement Experience :
You need to go for an year of internship after completing the final year. The internship is a paid one. The current batch is getting around 12000 and with every year increment by the time I reach the internship year I will get around 18000. The patient flow is tremendously good so you get good opportunities to enhance your skills.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For us the fee was around 1,59,405 something and there's a policy that every year there's an increment in the fee by 10% and in the internship pay by 5%. College do provide scholarships to students who belong to ews categories and other financial aids too.
Campus Life :
Since our college comes under Punjab University so there are two campuses North and South. Our college is in the South campus. Our campus is not very developed in terms of facilities but it is lush green and provides a good environment. There are other departments too in our campus like biotech, microbiology and engineering. The north campus is pretty well developed with all facilities and student friendly environment. It also has the AC Joshi library where you can go study and even issue books. You need to get a card made for the access to the library. There are fest too organised in the campus by all the departments. Our college also organises a fest Ignition in the month of March. The amenities in college are not kuch it's a general government institute but slowly and steadily they are trying to upgrade the facilities. The college doesn't have it own club or anything but you can be a part of other clubs and organisations like Rotaract and NSS
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel is pretty good. The cost is almost 1000 for one month. There are other hostels too with a price higher. Hostel recruitment is merit based. You need to apply for it on the official website after your admission. The food is also manageable and there are good facilities like reading room, gym, common room, visitors room, washing area with washing machine.
Interview Experience :
The admission in the college is solely based on your score in Neet. This year the cutoff went around 490-500 which was almost 100 marks more than the last year. There's no interview or GD as such. But yeah on the day of admission if you don't have proper documents your admission process is stopped so it's better to refer others before arranging the documents

College offers on campus placements opportunities in the 4th year of the course . Many reputed companies like Apple , Amazon , PhonePe , Maruti Suzuki etc visits campus for rhe placements. Highest and average package is around 60 lakhs and 17 lakhs respectively . 90 % students got placed this year

I don't have much idea about eligibility criteria because I have been in the clg 3 months. Company like Jp Morgan godrej britannia etc are the tip recruiters in our branch. This semester My H and Q company have given intern to many students. I am planning for government jobs. 40% of students are places in my branch.

Placemnts are better than other nits like hamirpur nit Jalandhar and nit kurukshetra also better than some private college like thapar its avg is like 13 lakh and median is 12 lakh for electrcal its same median avg is 14.5 and cse avg goes 20+ and ai avg 19 lakhs

placements are good and you can get the official data on college websity of my branch 94 placed out of 127 and avg package is 13.1 and median is 12 lpa but cse avg this year goes 20 + lpa but lower branch like civil has some low placemnt stats as many students go for foriegn ms or higher studies or gate psu from civil

The placement rate of chitkara is great from the starting of third year you can apply for placements . Various companies like Wipro,hero, Tata motors, Reliance, Lenovo visits for placements. The average package is around 8 lpa and heights is 45 lpa, from the college there are 100% placement rate.

Course Curriculum Overview :
I was never interested in this course but due to family stress I was forced to do this and later on it was much intrested than any other subject. The beginning and end of universe is all what engineering teaches us and if somebody will find it not interesting then he should cut himself from this world.

The placement is quite very low for my department and my course. University is practicing for encouraging more companies for our course placement. It is improving but now the placement is low for my course . Like from last year only 5 were placed out of 60.
