VIT Chennai: A Review
Likes
- The size of the campus is great, it is neither too big nor too small.
- The Clubs and Social Activities are plus points. With clubs being very active, it surely gives us a good chance to socialize
Dislikes
- The procedure for getting outings and leaves for hostellers is a very tiring task.
- The mess food in the hostels is not that good. It can be much better.
Remarks :
I chose this college because it has a good reputation, it has good academic excellence as well as the placement statistics are also good. There is an online CBT called VITEEE for admission. Preparation for VITEEE is nothing extra, if one has prepared for JEE then VITEEE is a cakewalk for them.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course Curriculum is affiliated with UGC, this means that everything is planned and updated. All the Faculties are PHD degree holders and they teach the courses in their own unique way. Usually, the teaching methods followed are good and clear to understand. However, one may face problems if they are not compatible with the faculty. There are two Continuous Assessment Tests and one Final Assessment Test. These exams happen every 1½ month during the semester. Regarding fee hike, there hasn't been a fee hike in the past several years.
Placement Experience :
For placements one should not have any active backlogs and shouldn't have been involved in any misconduct. Some recruiters who visited are Amazon, Microsoft, Deloitte, PWC. The no of offers made by PWC for the batch 2020 were 75. Highest Package: 1.2Cr Average Package: 8-12Lpa
Campus Life :
There are two major fests: Vibrance and TechnoVIT. Vibrance: Happens in the month of February-March is the annual fest of VIT Chennai. Various major artists come and perform in this 3-4 days fest. TechnoVIT: Happens in the month of September-October is the annual tech fest of VIT Chennai. Various Clubs and Departments of the college showcase their geeky projects. Sports and Extracurricular activities on the campus are bit on the downside. But, you can be active in these communities and it will surely help you up. Clubs and Chapters are active in this college. There is every club for every community be it regional, technical or any other related. There is a social media called VITrendrz, which is run by students and it shows various activities across the campus. For accommodation, there is option to stay inside the campus in VIT hostels or you can stay outside in the PGs. I have opted for PG which is near to the college.

Basic eligibility criteria is to have cgpa above 7. Compared to last year fewer students got placed this year. Major mnc companies and startups came as recruiters. Highest package was of 8 lpa and the minimum package was of 3.5 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview :
The college has great facilities like central air conditioning, elevators, a library, cafeteria, labs, transport, and hostels for students who live far away. The college offers a wide range of courses and programs. They also provide internships, training in interpersonal skills, and courses in advanced Excel. There are many options for students to choose from.The college has a strong record of placing students in jobs. They offer up to 26.5 lakhs as the highest salary package for management students. Many top companies visit the campus for placements. Life on campus is exciting with lots of activities to participate in. Students can explore their talents in dance, singing, photography, painting, sports, and group discussions while focusing on their studies.

We will be eligible for placements from 3rd year and numerous companies will come for giving jobs. Eligibility criteria varies for different companies where some ask for all clear and some ask for no history of arrears. In mechanical nearly 80% got placed previous year. Package may be less for some of them starting at 4.5 LPA.

Coming to placements seriously they gave us tones and tones of practice session we attended many training sessions for aptitude and technical classes to crack interviews .Also they gave us personality development classes to improve ourself .No arrear students and single arrear students can opt for this.Core companies often visits our college and IT companies will start coming from 6 th semester onwards.Maximum package for IT is 60-70 thousand per month and for core based companies maximum is 40-50 thousand. Recently i had decided to do master's so currently im not in placements.
