- The one thing I like about jipmer is the clinical exposure that they provide here as wide variety of patients all over India come here for treatment as it is a renowned institute of national importance.
- The other thing I like is campus life you get here through annual celebratory events like spandan and the hostels which provide you with no time limitations(for boys) and all the freedom you want to explore more.
Dislikes
- What I dislike most here would ofcourse is the faculty here who are egoistic and childish who takes all their frustration upon the students and mostly threatens the students to fail them in the exams if they acts against their will.
- The other thing I dislike here is the way the management considers other bsc courses inferior to mbbs and treats the students same. This mentality can be seen in both the hospital and in any events conducted by jipmer
Remarks :
After 12th I dropped out for 2 years and prepared for NEET and took most of the entrance exams available related to the medical profession. That's how I came across the Jipmer entrance test for BSc nursing and other allied courses in 2020. Now admission is based on the NEET scores but you have to apply separately when the notification is released for admission for the course of your choice. There is no interview or GD of any kind, the admissions are purely based on merit but there is a separate reservation for Puducherry and other union territory students. Also, reservations based on caste categories are present for other state students. After admission, you have to undergo a free full body medical checkup which is done here in the Jipmer hospital by the staff. Most applicants with a moderate NEET score of 450 or greater(general category) can get admitted to BSc courses. The seats usually get filled with 2 rounds of counselling and if the remaining spot admission is also conducted.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Most people come to JIPMER with high hopes as this is a well-known central govt medical institute in India with all the super specialities you can think of and the fees here are almost 90% less compared to other private institutions that demand lakhs for the same course. You can also avail a lot of govt scholarships based on your caste categories. Talking about BSc nursing in Jipmer the advantage is that you get immense clinical exposure and your practical knowledge will be pro-level. The theory knowledge you gain will entirely depend on you as most faculty just read the slides and go away. The exams are of moderate difficulty and include ( 3 internals, 1 mode and 1 final exam) which you can pass by solving the previous year's question papers and no deep knowledge of the subject is required.
Internships Opportunities :
There is a 6-month compulsory internship after 3.5 years of course here in the Jipmer hospital where you can train under various departments and sharpen your skills under the experienced staff and immense patients here and the stipend is also good (rs 14000 per month). But the only downside is that you won't get any hostel from the college side and you have to find a stay outside which may cost you around rs 5000 per month.
Placement Experience :
No, direct placement of any kind is offered by the college. But almost 400 seats for nursing staff are called by jipmer which you can enroll only after cracking an entrance exam conducted by jipmer. Then you also have to pass a skill test conducted by the college to get the job. It is difficult to land a job here as the competition is very high. Or else as an alternative you can also work in any state government or private hospitals. Many students also crack IELTS or OET exams and get a job abroad as a staff nurse which pays you more. You can also go for higher studies as nursing offers a wide variety of specialities that you can choose from to become a professor or clinical instructor.
Campus Life :
The campus life in JIPMER for students in BSc courses is average compared to MBBS students here as most of the events are conducted by them. Of course, you can participate in all the events but sometimes you may feel biased as the management considers you inferior to mobs. Talking about the annual fest there is Spandan which is a 1 week-long intercollege event that is magnificent and usually conducted during August and there is Conaissance which is a 3 day medical conference where top doctors from all over India take part. Jipmer also has a huge central library which is open 24/7 and has all the medical books that you can think of also nursing college has a separate library inside the College. Jipmer also has a lot of clubs like music social dance photography and a lot of interbatch competitions in which you can participate in both arts and sports. The hostels here are average as it's a govt college that has both single & sharing rooms inside the campus and mess food is below average.

For women also there have colleges at local and national level. Students also prefer to proceed their studies at global level by entering into international universities and other programmes.

The college has its own placement cell .each year almost 400-500 students are getting placed.the well know recruiters are TCS , Accenture,Bounteous , Capgemini etc.the highest package of cur end year is 12LPA.

Eligibility for sitting In placement is that we should not carry backlogs and we have to maintain a decent cg of 7+ some companies do allow even you have backlogs but mostly they don't . In eee we have a good scope of getting palced this time everyone who sat for placements was placed and the highest core package of 12lpa which is actually good. Average was around 7 lpa for core in eee . I'll probably choose upsc career so this placement thing is not my piece of cake . Still our college is good for eee core placements

Job placement is quite bad in our university if you think to get addmission here you will fight for job . You have to apply directly to the companies. Companies are coming here but they didn't provide placement more than 30% .

The few companies which attended the placement drive were pharmaceuticals and sales companies, which weren't related to the field we pursued. Students attended the placement drive got placed and were able to bag below average packages. The percentage of students who got placed were around 40%. My plans were to go for higher studies. More emphasis could have been placed by the college on the placements and more opportunities could have been provided by the college for the students.

Every year students are placed in a week reputed companies like Amazon,Virtusa,TCS, Capgemini, Renault and so on. All the students having eligibility to attend the placements but some of the Top MNC expected 60% eligibility of throughout 10,12 and academic CGPA. So not eligible students also having more placements options to crack it.
