IIPS Mumbai operates seven academic departments and provides postgraduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral courses as well as fellowships. The following degrees are available such as M.A., M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., and Post Doctoral Fellowship. Admissions are determined by an Entrance Exam administered by the Institute.

  • For Master of Population Studies and M.Phil. admission applicants who pass the entrance exam must also participate in an interview.
  • Admission to the Ph.D., Integrated M.Phil/ Ph.D. (Full-Time and Part-Time), and Post Doctoral Fellowship Course is determined by an entrance examination, a written examination (research proposal), and a personal interview.
  • Selection for the MA in Population Science (Distance Education) is carried out by a Committee duly appointed by the Director of IIPS.
