PPU Admission Dates 2027

For BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, BTTM, and B.Lib, Patliputra University uses the OFSS Bihar centralised admission system. Admissions for the 2026-30 batch are over, and the 2027-31 UG admission round is expected to begin in April 2027. The dates given below are tentative and follow the previous admission cycle pattern.

PPU releases separate schedules for PG and professional courses such as MA, MBA, LLM, M.Sc, and M.Ed. Students should follow the official PPU portal for PG admission notices. The accepted exam or admission route for each course group is given below.

PPU Courses and Fees

Patliputra University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in arts, science, commerce, law, pharmacy, management, and education. The fee structure is low because it follows a state government-funded model. The figures below are based on General category per-semester fee data.

The 4-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under NEP 2020 is being followed in PPU-affiliated colleges. Students can leave with a Certificate after Year 1, a Diploma after Year 2, a BA/B.Sc/B.Com degree after Year 3, or an Honours degree after Year 4.

PPU Admission Process

Admission at PPU-affiliated colleges takes place through two routes. UG courses are handled through the centralised OFSS Bihar portal, while PG and professional courses follow the university's own admission process.

UG Admission (BA / B.Sc / B.Com / BBA / BCA / BTTM / B.Lib)

Students applying for UG courses must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board. General Category candidates need at least 45% marks. For regular UG courses, there is no entrance test because selection depends only on Class 12 marks.

• Apply on the OFSS Bihar portal when the form window opens, usually from April to May every year
• Choose colleges and subjects in the order of preference
• Check the merit list prepared college-wise and subject-wise from Class 12 aggregate marks
• Complete document verification at the allotted college to confirm admission

Seats in PPU-affiliated colleges are reserved as per Bihar government rules: SC/ST candidates get 15% and 7.5%, OBC candidates get 27%, and Differently Abled candidates get 3%.

PG Admission (MA / M.Sc / M.Com / MBA / MCA / LLM)

PPU conducts PG admissions directly through a university-level written entrance test. Applicants must have a relevant bachelor's degree. Forms are published on the official PPU portal. Selection is based on the written test and merit list. For MBA admission, the university may also call applicants for Group Discussion and interview.

Law Admission (BA LL.B. / LLB)

Law admissions in affiliated law colleges are based on CLAT or Bihar state law entrance processes. BA LL.B. applicants need 10+2 with 45%, while LLB applicants need graduation with 45%. The exact process may differ by affiliated law college, so students should check the rules of the college they are applying to.

B.Pharm Admission

B.Pharm admission is through the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) for the pharmacy stream. Students need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology. Bihar's state authority conducts the counselling process.

PPU Career Outcomes

Patliputra University is a general state university where most programmes are in arts, science, and commerce. Regular campus placement drives are limited, so student outcomes depend largely on the course selected and preparation for competitive exams.

PPU's MBA fee is INR 10,240 for the full two-year programme, which makes it one of the most affordable MBA options in Bihar. This fee level helps graduates from modest economic backgrounds pursue a management qualification.

PPU Campus and Infrastructure

Patliputra University currently runs its administrative work from Kankarbagh, Patna. Its permanent campus is being developed near Bakhtiyarpur on the Patna-Buxar highway. Across Patna and Nalanda districts, the affiliated colleges have their own campuses, laboratories, libraries, and hostels.

Important affiliated colleges under PPU include A.N. College (Anugrah Narayan College), Patna, which has NAAC A+ accreditation, and College of Commerce, Arts and Science, Patna, which has NAAC A accreditation. These constituent colleges have established academic infrastructure along with hostel and laboratory facilities.

The university library and central administrative offices support examination work, degree certification, and student services for 3,50,000 students studying in more than 200 affiliated colleges.

PPU vs Patna University vs Magadh University

Students in Bihar often compare Patliputra University (PPU), Patna University, and Magadh University while choosing a state government university in or near Patna. All three are state-funded affiliating universities, but they differ in age, college network, district coverage, and recognition.

Patna University is a teaching university with its own departments, NAAC A grade, and stronger institutional recognition, but it directly serves fewer students. PPU covers a large share of college-going students in Patna and Nalanda. Magadh University is older and has a larger affiliating role across south Bihar districts.
