BITSoM Admission Process

MBA Admission

MBA applications are handled directly by BITSoM through its own admission portal at bitsom.edu.in. There is no central counselling round. Selection considers the applicant’s complete profile rather than relying only on an entrance test score.

Applicants must meet the following MBA requirements:

  • Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognised university. Students in the final year of graduation can also submit an application.
  • A valid CAT, GMAT, GMAT Focus Edition or GRE score is required, and BITSoM accepts each of these four tests.
  • BITSoM has not declared an official minimum percentage for graduation. Previous academic performance is reviewed as one part of the complete profile.
  • Professional experience is optional, and fresh graduates are eligible. Relevant work experience can add strength to an application.

Selection takes place in three stages:

  • Stage 1: Application and profile review. Applicants provide their entrance test score, undergraduate transcripts, resume, co-curricular record and two compulsory essays. They also pay the INR 2,500 application fee.
  • Stage 2: Personal Interview. Shortlisted applicants attend an interview on campus. The panel assesses their communication, approach to solving problems and potential to lead.
  • Stage 3: Final merit decision. The institute jointly reviews the test score, academic history, essays, work experience, co-curricular activities and interview performance before issuing its decision.

The 2026-28 batch had a median CAT percentile of 94.64, while admitted scores ranged from 80.09 to 99.41. The median GMAT score was 700, with scores extending from 640 to 750, and the median GRE score was 320. A CAT percentile of 90 or higher can make an applicant competitive for shortlisting, although BITSoM does not publish a fixed cutoff.
