AIIMS Jammu Courses and Fees

Medical education at AIIMS Jammu includes undergraduate, postgraduate and super-specialty courses. As the institute receives central government funding, the total programme fees remain low.

Students pursuing an MD can choose from General Medicine, Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radio Diagnosis, Radiotherapy, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Community Medicine, Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Administration, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, or Transfusion Medicine. The MS options are General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, and ENT.

AIIMS Jammu Admission Process

Admission depends on the course selected. MBBS applicants qualify through NEET UG and take part in MCC counselling, nursing applicants sit for the separate AIIMS Nursing Entrance Examination, and postgraduate or super-specialty applicants use INI-CET. AIIMS New Delhi conducts INI-CET twice each year, with the November 2026 examination governing admission for the January 2027 postgraduate session.

MBBS Admission

MCC fills all 100 MBBS seats through national NEET UG counselling under the AIIMS category.

1. Applicants must complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. General and OBC students need at least 50% in PCB, while SC and ST students need 40%. They must be 17 years old or older on December 31 of the admission year.
2. Students must qualify NEET UG and register for MCC counselling online.
3. Applicants enter and lock their preferred choices before the seat allotment result is issued.
4. Those allotted a seat report to AIIMS Jammu for document verification and confirmation of admission.

After every round of MCC counselling in 2026, the General category MBBS closing rank was 3,993. The corresponding closing ranks were 5,308 for EWS, 51,471 for SC and 43,200 for ST.

B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing Admission

AIIMS Jammu admits students to 60 B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing seats through the centralised AIIMS Nursing Entrance Examination held by AIIMS New Delhi. This test is different from NEET UG.

1. Applicants need 10+2 with PCB and at least 45% marks. The minimum is 40% for SC, ST and OBC students. The permitted age is 17 to 25 years as of December 31 in the admission year.
2. Students first take the written entrance examination and then join AIIMS counselling.
3. Admission is confirmed after seat allocation and document verification.

In 2026, the B.Sc Nursing closing rank was 1,184 in Round 1 and 1,853 in the final round.

PG Programmes (MD/MS/MDS/M.Ch/DM)

INI-CET is the common admission route for every postgraduate and super-specialty programme at AIIMS Jammu.

• For MD or MS, applicants need an MBBS degree, completion of the compulsory rotating internship and at least 55% aggregate marks in MBBS.
• MDS applicants must hold a BDS degree and have completed their internship.
• Admission to M.Ch and DM requires the relevant MS or MD qualification along with INI-CET qualification in the super-specialty stream.
• Seats are allotted through centralised INI counselling for AIIMS campuses and other Institutes of National Importance.

AIIMS Jammu Placements and Career Outcomes

AIIMS Jammu does not run conventional campus placement drives. MBBS graduates usually continue to postgraduate study, enter government health services, or begin clinical work. Their possible career routes and compensation are shown below.

An MBBS degree from AIIMS Jammu carries the national recognition associated with AIIMS. For INI-CET eligibility, UPSC civil services and central government medical appointments, it is recognised at the same level as an AIIMS New Delhi MBBS degree. During internship, students receive active clinical exposure through the hospital's 18 super-specialties.

No undergraduate rural service bond applies at AIIMS Jammu, unlike the requirement followed by several state government medical colleges. After completing the compulsory internship, graduates may take NEET PG or INI-CET, follow the UPSC-CMS route, or enter private practice.

AIIMS Jammu Campus and Infrastructure

AIIMS Jammu occupies a 227-acre site at Vijaypur in Samba district. It is 22 km from Jammu city and lies on National Highway 44, part of the Jammu-Pathankot-Delhi corridor. This position provides road access towards Jammu city as well as Punjab.

The medical complex contains 750 hospital beds, of which 193 are ICU beds. It operates through 50 departments and covers 18 super-specialties, despite having been inaugurated only in 2024. Students have access to smart lecture theatres, simulation laboratories and a digital library that remains available 24 hours a day. Full digitalisation of healthcare work across departments is planned.

On-campus residential facilities are available, although some hostel and residential blocks remain at different stages of completion because the institute is new. Plans for the campus describe a self-contained township built with green and eco-friendly features.

AIIMS Jammu vs AIIMS Awantipora vs AIIMS Bilaspur

Students with NEET UG ranks between 1,500 and 5,000 commonly consider AIIMS Jammu alongside AIIMS Awantipora in the Kashmir Valley and AIIMS Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh. The three institutes serve overlapping regions and have comparable academic profiles.

AIIMS Bilaspur has a longer academic record and a place in the NIRF rankings. Its General category NEET closing ranks are therefore tighter. AIIMS Jammu's advantages include its commissioned 750-bed hospital, coverage of 18 super-specialties and its location beside a national highway near Jammu. AIIMS Awantipora directly serves the Kashmir Valley but remains at an earlier point in developing its academic and clinical facilities.
