A page of campus in my life

What I Liked

Infrastucture wise its good, library with good collection of books , well organised canteen , peacefull campus with many places to relax, classrooms are neat , washrooms are tidy and in every floors , drinking water facilities.

What I didn’t like

Academics is great but campus life is poor programs are not well organized. it will be informed to students the day before the event and its difficult to plan a performance . Students are acheiving highs but campus life is still boring . Programs should be held with well planning and oraganizing.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are there but currently no one approached and hopefully there will be some . But most of them are private sector banks and only few departments can enter. The formed a team for recruitment training. Others should search for themselves is the current state.

Remarks:

For me i was searching for bcom with taxation near me . I found Alphonsa as my better option . This college is well know for its academics as well as sports background with a peaceful campus and easy access to everywhere . Transportation and hostel facilites are attractive too .

College review on Alphonsa College Pala, Kottayam

What I Liked

When talking about a college everyone look forward to the campus life. But we shouldn't ignore that the age we spent during the college days are the golden period. We experience the real world for the first time. Many situations have to be faced without the supervision of parents. So during this journey we would go far away from a spiritual life and find ourselves a mess. This college never forces you to pray but it definitely provide an opportunity to come back to a spiritual life. I was a busy person filled with assignments, seminars, lab-works, records and so on and I started feeling a voidness and self helplessness. I wasn't able to figure out what I was exactly doing and I reached out to God at last. Once I attended prayers consistently I started feeling better and my mind was more clear and it has helped to have an optimistic outlook about life.
Library is my happy place and you would find a lot of friends there. Even though it is not a place most students visit often it is a calm and quiet place to be yourself. The college central library is spacious and well organized. There are departmental libraries too for PG students. Canteen is another attraction. Every Thursdays they have special menu. Food is available at an affordable rate. The canteen is clean and good quality foods are provided there. The canteen also has a television which is switched on during the lunch time and after class time. There is a store in the college where you can find all college stationaries and other essentials. It also provides ice-creams and snacks at normal rate. Near to the store there is ample space for students to sit and talk. The college has a large auditorium , 2 seminar halls one which is just like a movie theater.
The college usually conduct medical camps in the college which allows the students to test their health at free of cost. They would provide necessary medicines to students who are found to be in an unhealthy conditions. Hands on training programmes and career guidance classes are also conducted in an yearly basis. The college hosts many sports events and actively promote the sports students by providing fitness center. The college has a strong anti-ragging cell. The college is free of campus politics.

What I didn’t like

The college faces severe water shortage during summer seasons which makes the usage of washrooms more difficult for students.
Whenever there is a program to be organized by the students the teachers would fix the date and inform about it to the students only the day before the program.
During monsoon the locality faces flood due to the overflow of Meenachil river and the poor drainage system of the city. So it would be a bit difficult to reach the college during the monsoon season.

Placement Experience:

The college offer campus placements for self-financing courses such as B.Voc Fashion Technology and BSc/MSc Clinical Nutrition and dietetics course. The rest of the students have to find jobs by themselves. Most of the students choose this college to make it easier to study at the Civil Service Institute near the college. So they get into intense coaching for the civil services exam once they finish their studies. B.Sandhya IPS ,who retired as a DGP is an alumnae of this college. The another major group go for B.Ed or qualify NET exams and pursue a teaching profession. Mostly the sports students are employed after their studies in the Indian Railways. Overall the placement cell and the percentage of placements in the college is average. I am pursuing a job oriented course to make myself more professionally employable.

Remarks:

As the college is located near to both private and KSRTC bus transport station which has buses arriving from almost all districts in Kerala it is convenient to reach the college. The itself has a college bus too. Plenty of hostels are also available near to the college. ATM of almost all banks are located within 1 km of the college. During summer the college faces water shortage, so the tap water gets muddy water which isn't fit for use. Students are allotted to colleges by the University through a single window system known as the Central allotment Process(CAP) based on merit marks of the candidate at the qualifying exam, choice of the candidate and the norms of reservation. Usually only the students with an average of 80% marks would be able to get a seat through the merit means. 50% of seats are filled on the basis of merit and 20% for SC/ST students, 20% filled by management and 10% reserved for Catholic students on the basis of merit.

Alphonsa college pala . Just how to make women independent

What I Liked

Greenary, canteen, basket ball ground, it's a good eco friendly campus. Anti bullying and also has a counselling session . So it's pretty much healthy. Campus Life is not top rated like all these iits but yea pretty much decent I could say

What I didn’t like

Programmes are less, less spoon feeding. We need more exposure to jobs

Placement Experience:

Placements: Our college has a placement cell that facilitates career counseling and guides students for competitive examinations. It includes NET, GATE PSC, and IELTS coaching, and conducts webinars on overseas education, financial literacy, and soft skill workshops.

Remarks:

Merit based admissions .. and just need to fill in application form and submit in the office . Will get allotment list . It is a average college . I mean we do hv study materials but at the end it's just individual efforts.
