Army Institute of Law is a private, unaided institution established by the Indian Army in July 1999 under the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) at its temporary location in Patiala. The Institute is permanently affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala, and is approved by the Bar Council of India. In July 2003, the Institute relocated to its current campus at Sector 68, Mohali, Punjab. The institute has been accredited grade ‘B’ by the NAAC. AIL Mohali offers a five-year BA LLB program and a one-year LLM course.  

Candidates can apply to these courses via online mode. The Army Institute of Law Mohali Admission is based on the marks scored in the Law entrance test (AI LET) conducted by the Army Institute of Law. To apply for the BA LLB program, the candidate must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board. Candidates who are appearing for the 10+2 examinations are also eligible to apply on a provisional basis. The candidates applying for the LLM course must have cleared either a 5-year integrated BA LLB or a BCom LLB course or a 3-year LLB.

  1. Tata Merit Scholarship: The scholarship is awarded to the wards of army personnel for bagging first and second position in the first four years of their undergraduate course. There is a total of 8-9 scholarships with a cash prize of INR 15,000 and INR 20,000.

  • Abhimanyu Scholarship: The scholarship is instituted by Col. PRS Chaudhary in memory of Late Mr. Abhimanyu Raj Singh Chaudhary. Army Institute of Law Facilities

The Army Institute of Law provides all the necessary facilities required for the well-being of students. The campus is equipped with 24/7 power backup along with high-speed WiFi. All the classrooms are air-conditioned classrooms to create a comfortable and conducive learning environment. Given below are some of the facilities available at the Army Institute of Law.

  • Library: The state-of-the-art air-conditioned library has over 12,000 books, e-books, and online legal databases such as SCC Online, Lexis-Nexis, Manupatra, Westlaw, Hein Online, J-STOR, and LIVE Law. The institute subscribes to MyLOFT, a mobile web app for accessing digital and e-content. The library uses Libsys software and is RFID-enabled.
