The Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), is a private self-financing engineering college in Ernakulam, Kerala. The institution was established by the Federal Bank Officers` Association Educational Society in 2002.

FISAT is approved by AICTE and has been accredited Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. The college is affiliated to Kerala Technological University and Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. FISAT offers engineering and management programs at UG and PG level.

FISAT is pretty popular for its BTech course. Students have the option of applying to Government and Management quota.

The placement cell at FISAT is a dedicated organization that conducts mock interviews, group discussions, soft skills training, talks from industry experts and about 100 hours of training for students to meet industry standards.

FISAT Scholarship

Students at FISAT can avail the following scholarships offered by the institution

For BTech the available scholarships are:

  • Schemes Based on KEAM Rank: Students of all B.Tech branches admitted through govt quota can apply for this scholarship. The fee for those whose KEAM ranks upto 5000 is INR 10,000/- and students who rank between 5001-7000 are INR 25,000/-. 
  • Schemes Based on Merit: This scheme is for B.Tech students under management quota and have scored meritoriously in 10+2. 10 students who have scored above 95% in PCM for State or 90% in PCM for CBSE/ICSE have their fee of INR 50,000/-. 4 students who have performed well in sports or arts have their fee of INR 25,000/-. 
  • Scheme Based on Income: Students under management quota whose family have an income under INR 4 LPA and have secured above 60% in PCM can apply. Only 16 seats are available and the fee is INR 50,000/-
  • Scheme Based on Income and 10+2 Marks: This scholarship is for NRI students who have outstanding marks in PCM for 10+2. A total of 10 students can avail this scholarship. The scholarship is inclusive of Tuition Fee, Special Fee and Value added courses or a waiver of INR 50,000/- is given.

MTech students can apply for the following schemes:

  • Valid GATE Score: Students of MTech with a valid GATE score get a scholarship of INR 25,000/-.
  • FISAT Alumni: FISAT Alumni who have been admitted to M.tech are given a scholarship of INR 5,000/-
  • Passing in all Subjects in First attempt with CGPA > 8: Students who have passed all subjects with a CGPA > 8 in their first attempt are given a scholarship of INR 5,000/-

Students admitted to MBA and MCA have the following options:

  • SGPA>8.5 (MCA): Students of MCA with an SGPA greater than 8.5 are given a scholarship of INR 10,000 per year.
  • SGPA>8.5 (MBA): Students of MBA with an SGPA greater than 8.5 are given INR 25,000 per year.
  • Alumni Scholarship: FISAT Alumni are given a scholarship of INR 10,000 per year.
  • Full Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme: Students are selected based on rank in Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination and family income. 5% of seats are filled this way and students thus admitted can avail this scheme.

Ques. How good is the E&I Department of FISAT?

Ans. The department of E&I is pretty good. They have an encouraging and knowledgeable faculty as well as top lab facilities. Students have gotten great placement in previous years. There are also internship opportunities by TCS. Overall FISAT is a great choice if you are interested in the field.

Ans. The documents to be submitted in regards to MTech application are

Ans. Yes, FISAT not only pays attention to academics but also extracurriculars. Ques. Do students have to wear uniforms at FISAT?

Ans. Yes. It is compulsory for students to wear uniforms at FISAT. Boys have to wear slacks shirts and pants and girls have a combination of slack shirts, jackets and pants. There is also a separate workshop uniform. The different streams are also colour coded.
