IFET Villupuram was founded in 1998 by eminent Industrialists and benevolent NRIs, the Indo-French Educational Trust. (IFET). IFET is affiliated with Anna University, is accredited by NAAC and NBA, and has ACTE approval. The IIC-MHRD innovation council in New Delhi awarded IFET a 3.5-star rating. IFET provides numerous UG and PG courses, including B.TECH, B.E, M.E, and MBA.

IFET seeks to provide an education of international quality and to produce competent engineers at the regional, national, and international levels. Admission to IFET is based on both merit and an entrance examination.
