HITAM Courses and Fees

HITAM provides six regular undergraduate engineering specialisations, a lateral entry route for diploma holders and a B.Tech + MS dual degree. Although its programmes remain affiliated with JNTUH, the institute's autonomous status allows it to design the curriculum. The listed amounts apply to General category students under the published fee structure.

CSE, AI and ML, and Data Sciences receive the strongest demand and generally draw the most competitive TS EAPCET ranks at HITAM. The B.Tech + MS course is a newer option intended for students planning to enter research or pursue graduate education internationally after undergraduate study.

HITAM Admission Process

Regular B.Tech admission mainly takes place through the TS EAPCET convener quota. The remaining places are offered under management and NRI quotas. Diploma holders use the TS ECET lateral entry route, while the dual degree also has an institute-level selection process.

ProgrammeEntrance ExamEligibility
B.Tech RegularTS EAPCET for Convener Quota; DET/Direct process for Management Quota10+2 with PCM and at least 45%
B.Tech Lateral EntryTS ECET for diploma holdersRelevant engineering diploma with 45%
B.Tech + MS Dual DegreeTS EAPCET and institutional test10+2 with PCM and at least 60%

B.Tech Admission (Regular)

For the convener quota, applicants need a valid TS EAPCET rank and must complete the state counselling process. Management quota applicants follow the institute's direct admission procedure.

  • Complete Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secure at least 45% in aggregate. The requirement is 40% for SC/ST applicants.
  • Use a valid TS EAPCET rank for a Convener quota seat or apply through the direct process for a Management quota seat.
  • Enter web options during TS EAPCET counselling, receive the seat allotment, complete document verification at HITAM, pay the required fee and confirm admission.

Closing ranks differ across HITAM branches. General category ranks for CSE and AI/ML are usually more competitive and typically fall between 20,000 and 60,000. Mechanical Engineering and EEE generally close at higher ranks.

B.Tech Lateral Entry

An engineering diploma holder can seek direct admission to the second year through TS ECET, the Engineering Common Entrance Test. The applicant must have a relevant diploma with 45% marks. APSCHE lateral entry counselling is used to allocate these seats.

B.Tech + MS Dual Degree

Admission to the dual degree requires more than a TS EAPCET score. HITAM also conducts an aptitude test and an interview. Students spend the first four years at HITAM and complete the MS part with the international university partner.

HITAM Placements

HITAM's Training and Placement Cell manages recruitment activities. During the 2024 season, JTP made the highest offer of INR 24 LPA to a B.Tech CSM student studying Computer Science and Machine Learning. The institute-wide mean package stood at INR 3.98 LPA, while the CSM mean reached INR 5 LPA.

JTP, Pie Infocom, Zemoso Labs, Q Spiders, Corizo and DBS are among the IT and software employers that recruit HITAM students. Core-sector recruiters include Schneider Electric, Maintec, Morder Intelligence and Rothenberger. Training in aptitude, coding and soft skills helps students prepare for both campus recruitment and off-campus drives.

HITAM Campus and Infrastructure

HITAM occupies a green site in Medchal, a developing area on Hyderabad's northern edge where summer temperatures are cooler than in the city centre. Students have noted its maintained surroundings and tree-lined paths. Outer Ring Road connectivity allows travel from most Hyderabad localities in 30 to 45 minutes.

Academic and activity facilities include department-specific engineering and project laboratories, a central computing centre, an auditorium, basketball courts, a cricket ground and a gym. Links with Hyderabad's technology industry support sponsored laboratories and guest lectures during the academic year.

Separate on-campus accommodation is provided for male and female students. Both hostels charge between INR 1,15,000 and INR 1,35,000 per year, including accommodation, meals, Wi-Fi, security and access to sports facilities. Transport services connect the institute with major parts of Hyderabad for day scholars.

HITAM vs CBIT vs GRIET Hyderabad

HITAM is often considered alongside Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) and Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology (GRIET). These three private autonomous engineering colleges are affiliated with JNTUH, hold NAAC accreditation and place students in Hyderabad's IT and engineering employment market.
