As I had a keen interest in science but didn’t want to pursue medical or or engineering, I found this sector of science very blooming recently and was suggested by some near and dear ones. Though the faculty has some partial behaviour and there have been lot of sexual harassment cases rose around but was never made public. But the curriculum is really good compared to other colleges. I have had visits to all colleges around mumbai having biotechnology or life science related courses during PR campaigns and Somaiya has the best and safest lab of all. The curriculum is well distributed around 3 years and alot of electives are provided that you can choose as per your choice and interest.
The are some in campus companies which have no connection with somaiya but they do provide opportunities to Somaiyans. However, the placement cell of the college is very inactive. Not even a single student did get on campus placement. You are on your own when it’s about getting internships and placements.
Read Full ReviewI was doing CA so along with that I wanted to do a degree so I choose BCOM degree and I never regreted here because faculties were supportive and helpful too and their teaching methods are amazing I really liked it every year it has 2 semesters and the exam papers are neutral not too hard not too easy
I was a part of placement cell committee so this was my favourite and during placement companies like tensai,HGS, Vodafone, teach for india, india fillings etc came this year in our college and they offer avg 3 to 3.5 LPA average highest was 5 LPA
Read Full ReviewI love medical biology and microorganisms so this course helps me to study these two aspects. The faculties at the college have either complete their Masters and PhD. In the particular subjects or are pursuing PhD. The teaching methods are fine. The exams are conducted every 2.5 months and difficulty level was medium.
There is no placement or internship for BSC students but for MSc they have placements but it's not very good and most of the students opt out of college placement very less per centage of students get the placement here
Read Full ReviewCourse curriculum is okay. Professors has to complete there portion according and then we have our semesters. Projectors are used for better understanding of the subject. Faculties are good and supportive towards there students and maintain discipline as they are friendly too.
Placements are there according to the courses which we have opted as our degree. It is only for good people and scholars. They are given placements with 3-6 months of internship and they discuss the salary according to it.
Read Full ReviewActually the course is comparatively very helpful for the students looking for accounting and finance related jobs and wanted to learn about accounts and finance to get deep knowledge so should go for the course it's good
Actually I saw the campus life faculty and overall reviews of the college and they were quite good so that made me come over here plus many of the people told me about scholarship which the college offers to the students2
Read Full ReviewThe design of the course is very practical and very up to date the concepts thoughts are relevant to current market situation. The topics are interesting and new, but the faculty is not good everytime there are some very good prof. Who are industry experts and teach things practically. Though most of the faculty is textbook-y infact some don't even know their concepts properly, these teachers lack communication skills, their lectures is filled with 'um' & 'ah' it's annoying sometimes overall the faculty is below average obviously their are some expections. Let me share this instance, once a boy asked a teacher "how is the currency value decided" the teacher answerd " Woh hojata hai online tum ppt pe dhayan do" remember the course is financial market.
Being eligible for placement is a whole other hassle, consistent above 8 pointers, just to get a chance to sit in the interview round. Internships is something not well talked about placement and intership is not guaranteed it's underwhelming bcuz the of roi, avg package is 3-4 LPA, if you are a real real good student who has no life after lectures you might get something like 5-6 LPA. Popular companies like Motilal Oswal, TCS, Deloitte, Godrej, Pfizer and etc come, i heard rumours that sharan's one percent club will be coming this year for recruitment. Also let me give you something important finance course related job roles are coming no matter what your course sales is the only option
Read Full Reviewthe faculty is great eventho some of the non teaching staff can be a little moody sometimes the rest is all great. especially the vice president is quite welcoming and helpful. the cleaning ladies and the security people are pretty nice aswell
i was in somaiya for 11th and 12th doing pcmb and had a pretty decent experience so i didn't mind rejoining the college. the campus is pretty huge and provides alot of extra curricular activities and opportunities ensuring an overall great college experience. the faculty and teaching staff is pretty great too.
Read Full ReviewI chose thos course because i was always curious about science stuff far beyond molecular stuff to exobiology overall if we consider, this course is a mixture of many aspects of science such as microbiology ,research, tissue culture recombinant DNA technology physiology chemistry, physics, immunology virology and many more.
There were no written tests for admissions as such, whereas i chose the college because it lies at centre of the mumbai that is ghatkopar so it is easy to travel and also has a huge campus overall experience in both teaching and fun activities is good it also holds lot's of events and stuffs as well.
Read Full ReviewThe course has fantasticly up to point and it's on working, th faculty of my course where great and fun-loving except 1-2 faculty. With respect to faculty and curriculum it good but the college is little poor and disappointing when it comes to facilities compared to other college and fees they charge.
The college has more internship opportunities than placement. The college is trying best to give various opportunities to the student. And with respect to the the placement offered mostly are focused with sales and Hr intern roles.
Read Full ReviewThe course curriculum is good except the subject of professional communication which is still in curriculum even in second year. The exams are of intermediate level. The internals are strict for the most of the time.
My plans after getting this degree are to get a masters with a specialization as this degree is not near as efficient for a good paying job without skills. The college has conducted internship fairs but not any known companies were present.
