VG Vaze College Courses and Fees

Students can choose aided or self-financing courses in arts, commerce and science at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The college conducts autonomous examinations for aided UG courses taught under the University of Mumbai syllabus. PGDPCM offers specialised study in Perfumery and Cosmetics Management and is uncommon among Mumbai colleges.

The BA subject choices are Economics, English, Hindi, History, Marathi, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. VG Vaze College also runs an M.Sc in Oceanography, one of the few standalone marine science programmes available through Mumbai’s affiliated colleges.

VG Vaze College Admission Process

University of Mumbai rules govern admission to the aided courses, with selection based only on HSC or Class 12 marks. For self-financing courses, the college prepares its own merit lists. Applications from Vaze Junior College graduates are handled separately from those submitted by students from other institutions.

Aided BA, B.Com and B.Sc Admissions

Applicants for an aided undergraduate course complete the University of Mumbai centralised procedure in the following stages:

• Complete registration on the University of Mumbai Pre-Admission Online Enrolment portal within the notified period, usually in May
• Submit the separate college admission form through the Vaze College portal
• Choose the required stream and preferred subjects
• Check the merit lists issued by the college using aggregate HSC marks
• After selection, verify the required documents and pay the fee to secure the seat

A pass in Class 12 from a recognised board is the basic requirement. B.Sc applicants must have completed the Science stream with the relevant HSC subject group. PCM is required for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combinations, while PCB applies to Biology-based subjects. The aided undergraduate intake is 240 seats for BA, 480 seats for B.Com and 120 seats for B.Sc.

SFC Programme Admissions for BBA, BMS, B.Sc IT, B.Sc Biotechnology, BA Mass Communication and Multimedia

Students seeking a self-financing course apply through the Vaze College admission portal, and selection is made on merit. The documents include the HSC marksheet, school leaving certificate and a category certificate when applicable. Maharashtra CET Cell merit may also be taken into account for BMS and B.Com in Accounting and Finance or Banking and Insurance. B.Sc IT has 60 seats, while B.Sc Biotechnology has 35 seats. The university norms set the fixed intake for BBA, BMS and BA Mass Communication.

PG Admissions for M.Com and M.Sc

Graduation marks determine selection for postgraduate courses, and applications are handled on the college portal. M.Com applicants need a B.Com degree in a relevant subject. An M.Sc applicant must hold a B.Sc in the matching discipline with at least 45% marks, reduced to 40% for reserved categories. Graduates from any stream may seek admission to PGDPCM.

VG Vaze College Placements

NIRF 2025 data records a median salary of INR 2.55 LPA for placed graduates, compared with INR 2.45 LPA in NIRF 2024. The highest reported package in both years was INR 4.5 LPA. These results reflect the college’s main focus on liberal arts and science education.

The Placement Cell introduces final-year students to entry-level opportunities in information technology, banking, finance, retail, media and hospitality. Campus recruitment is most active for B.Sc IT and B.Sc Biotechnology. BA and B.Com graduates often choose M.Com, MBA or LLB, or prepare for UPSC and MPSC examinations, before starting work.

VG Vaze College Scholarships

VG Vaze vs Ramnarain Ruia College vs KJ Somaiya College

VG Vaze College, Ramnarain Ruia College and KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce are autonomous institutions affiliated with the University of Mumbai. Their undergraduate and postgraduate options cover arts, science and commerce, although each college serves a different area of Mumbai. All three attract HSC graduates seeking merit-based admission.

Ruia College is the oldest of the three and holds the best NIRF position. KJ Somaiya College provides a broader selection of self-financing management courses. VG Vaze College combines varied UG and PG choices with the specialised PGDPCM course and serves eastern Mumbai. Its Mulund location makes it a common preference for applicants from Mulund, Thane and the eastern suburbs.
