MBBS Admission

Applicants must be at least 17 years old on 31 December of the admission year. General Category students need a minimum aggregate of 50 percent in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the 10+2 level. The requirement is 40 percent for SC, ST and OBC students. Every applicant must qualify for NEET UG.

The admission steps are:

  1. Meet the age and 10+2 subject requirements and take NEET UG.
  2. Choose the applicable counselling route based on AIQ, Telangana State Quota or IP Quota eligibility.
  3. Compete for a seat using the NEET UG merit rank within that quota.

The annual MBBS intake of 100 seats is divided as follows:

  • AIQ, 15 seats: MCC fills these seats through centralised online counselling using the NEET UG All India Merit rank.
  • State Quota, 50 seats: KNRUHS conducts Telangana counselling for students who meet the state's domicile requirement.
  • IP Quota, 35 seats: These seats are for wards of ESIC-insured persons. The parent must be an active ESIC subscriber, and the student needs a valid NEET UG score to join ESIC centralised counselling.

MD / MS / DNB Admission

NEET PG scores determine entry to MD and MS courses. More than 20 specialties are offered, including Anaesthesia, General Medicine, General Surgery, Radiodiagnosis, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. MCC PG allocates AIQ seats, while KNRUHS is responsible for the State Quota.

The National Board of Examinations manages entry to DNB programmes through NEET PG. Available subjects include Family Medicine, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology, Medical Oncology and Rheumatology. When it began at the college, its DNB in Family Medicine was the first such programme in Telangana.

M.Ch and DM Admission

Applicants to super-specialty courses must hold an MD or MS in the appropriate parent specialty and qualify for NEET SS. MCC super-specialty counselling covers M.Ch options in Cardio-Vascular Thoracic Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Urology.

ESIC Medical College Hyderabad Placements and Career Outcomes

As a government medical college, ESIC Hyderabad does not use the usual campus-placement model. Most MBBS graduates prepare for NEET PG and continue into an MD or MS course. Other entry routes include junior residency, private hospitals and recruitment as a salaried Central Government doctor within the ESIC hospital network.

ESIC Medical College Hyderabad Campus and Infrastructure

The 33.77-acre Sanathnagar campus has a multi-specialty teaching hospital with more than 800 beds. The hospital contains 14 operation theatres, 88 ICU beds and a separate super-specialty wing. It treats ESIC-insured beneficiaries as well as general patients, giving students experience with a broad clinical caseload.

Male and female students have separate on-campus hostels, with charges of up to INR 10,000 per year. This is among the lowest hostel fees charged by a city-based medical college. Lecture halls, a library, simulation laboratories, and facilities for the anatomy and pathology departments are housed in the main academic block. Built from 2016 onward, the purpose-built campus has newer infrastructure than Hyderabad's older medical colleges.

ESIC Medical College Hyderabad vs Osmania Medical College vs Gandhi Medical College

Students considering government MBBS colleges in Hyderabad often assess ESIC Medical College alongside Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Medical College. Telangana State Quota admission at all three institutions follows the NEET UG and KNRUHS counselling route.

Osmania and Gandhi medical colleges have a longer history, greater clinical volume and wider name recognition. ESIC Hyderabad instead provides a newer campus, an extensive postgraduate portfolio with subjects that were first introduced in Telangana at this institution, and the IP Quota. For a student whose parent is an ESIC subscriber, this quota can provide the most accessible route to a government MBBS seat in Hyderabad.
