M.Plan: About the Course

Master of Planning, a 2-year PG programme with a practical and participating approach, this programme focuses on urban development and planning processes, urban design and environmental policy, and real estate development, and helps improve knowledge and expertise in city planning and creative and environmental sustainability control.

• The course is designed to assist you in obtaining employment. After completing this course, students can work in a variety of fields in both the public and private sectors.
• As part of the M.Plan programme, students gain knowledge about how to better manage public and private interests in urban development.
• The goal of this course is to provide students with skills in Spatial Planning, Resource Planning, and Development of Cities, Rural Places, and Transportation, among other topics.

MPlan: Admission Process

Admission to the programme is usually determined by a candidate's performance on an entrance exam. GATE, TANCET, and other major all-India entrance exams are held for this purpose. Some colleges also offer merit-based admissions.

Candidates must have a valid GATE score to be admitted to the Master of Planning programme provided by multiple best universities in India. Some institutions, however, administer their enrollment test for admission to the M.Plan programme. Candidates are chosen based on their total scores, which include their entrance tests, counseling, and personal interview.

MPlan: Entrance based Process

• Then carefully fill out the application form with all of the required information. It is essential to check that all the details are correct.
• After the form fills up, upload required documents, such as mark sheets, which should be scanned and uploaded. Documents must be uploaded in a specific format as specified by the institution.

• If you are selected, you would be called for an invitation to participate in the GD and PI rounds.

MPlan: Eligibility 

The following are the basic requirements for students interested in pursuing an MPlan at an Indian university:

• Students who have completed their B. Plan degree with a 50% aggregate can apply for the M.Planning programme.
• M.Plan applicants must have a B.Arch, B.Tech, or B.E in Architecture/Planning/Civil Engineering with a 55 % aggregate.
• The candidates must also have passed a 10+2 exam from a recognized institution with a minimum of 50% in the related courses.

MPlan: Entrance Exams

For admission to the M Plan programme, you can apply in any national and state-level entrance exams as conducted by different institutions. The following are some of the most popular entrance exams used to select students for this programme.

• Every year, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is held to determine the required qualifications for M.Plan admissions to both government and private institutions.
• Anna University conducts TANCET every year. The exam is used for admission to various postgraduate degree programmes. Engineering Mathematics and Sciences would be included in the TANCET 2022 Exam Pattern for M.Plan/M.Arch.
• Andhra University conducts the Andhra University Common Entrance Test for admission to postgraduate programmes in the arts, sciences, and engineering. The test is available in both online and offline formats. There are 100 multiple-choice questions on the test.
• Lovely Professional University holds the LPUNEST for admission to the PG course MPlan. Candidates should have finished a bachelor's degree B.Plan and have received a minimum of 50% in the qualifying exam.

MPlan: Distance Education

Distance Learning is an option for students being unable to enroll in a Master of Planning programme regularly. Students must have a Bachelor's degree in Planning or an equivalent from a recognised university to be qualified for this course through distance mode. This distance learning course takes a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years. The candidate's merit in the Bachelor's degree examination will be used to determine admission to the M Plan course via correspondence. The course costs between INR 5,000 and INR 50,000 per year on average.
