How Does DU B.Ed Admission Work?

DU's two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme is offered through its Department of Education and participating colleges. Applicants first take the relevant CUET PG paper conducted by NTA. They then apply separately through DU CSAS(PG), choose eligible preferences and complete seat acceptance and fee payment.

A CUET score does not by itself establish eligibility or reserve a seat. DU checks the qualifying degree, teaching-subject background, category documents and the paper taken. This is why an applicant can have an entrance score but still be ineligible for a particular teaching subject.

DU B.Ed Eligibility 2026

There are two academic checks: the overall degree percentage and the subject you want to teach. Meeting the first does not remove the second.

The teaching subject must have been studied for at least 200 marks or 8 credits in core/elective courses, with at least 50% in that subject. It can come from the qualifying bachelor's or master's degree. For example, an overall degree score above 50% does not settle eligibility if the intended teaching subject falls below the required subject marks.

Course-specific exceptions

• Commerce requires M.Com.; a B.Com. degree alone is not the stated Commerce route.
• B.A./M.A. Mathematics and B.Com. (Pass/Hons.) candidates are also covered under the Mathematics subject category, alongside the subject-specific conditions.
• Home Science is offered only at Lady Irwin College. The listed qualifying degrees are B.Sc./M.Sc., B.H.Sc./M.H.Sc. and B.A./M.A. in Home Science.
• A Management or Law degree is not an eligible B.Ed qualifying route.

Which CUET PG Paper Is Required for DU B.Ed?

DU maps its B.Ed teaching subjects to five CUET PG codes. COQP03 is not the universal choice for every DU applicant. English, Science and Mathematics applicants have separate mapped papers.

Choose the teaching subject first, check that your marksheets support it, and then match its CUET code. The presence of a topic in a paper's syllabus is not proof that DU offers that topic as a teaching subject. For instance, COQP06 includes Computer Science questions, while DU's Science teaching-subject list names Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science and Physics.

DU B.Ed Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The 2026 CUET PG paper had 75 questions, 300 marks and 90 minutes. A correct answer earned 4 marks and an incorrect answer lost 1 mark. An unanswered question earned 0. These are CUET PG rules; the old 100-question DU entrance format is not the 2026 pattern.

For COQP04, use the separate Humanities and Social Science syllabus. Do not substitute COQP03 simply because both papers admit students to B.Ed programmes.

How to use previous papers

Practise from the same paper code you intend to take. The 2023 and 2024 CUET PG B.Ed papers include several subject streams; the 2024 B.Ed Humanities and Social Science paper is relevant to COQP04 practice. Older papers are question practice, not a source for the 2026 time limit.

The short NTA syllabus lists do not give fixed chapter-wise percentages. Start by matching each question to a listed subject, then review errors within that subject. A sample with several Science questions does not establish an official Science weightage for every future paper.

DU B.Ed Colleges and Seats 2026

The published B.Ed seat matrix totals 438 regular seats across four institutions. It is the announced intake, not a live vacancy count. Separate B.Ed Special Education programmes are not included.

Not every teaching subject is available at every college

Psychology is available at CIE and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College; Sociology is available only at CIE. Punjabi and Urdu are offered only at Maharshi Valmiki College. Lady Irwin offers Home Science, with Science as Pedagogy 1 and Home Science as Pedagogy 2. These restrictions matter before you rank colleges in the preference form.

DU B.Ed Application and Admission Dates 2026

NTA registration and DU admission registration had different deadlines. The main 2026 application and first-round milestones were:

The 11 June DU notice extended the correction closing time to 11:59 pm. That did not extend the 9 June registration deadline or the later seat-acceptance deadline.

DU B.Ed Selection and Cutoffs

Selection combines the relevant CUET score with programme eligibility, category, preferences and available seats. A college's minimum allocation score belongs to a particular subject, category and round. It is not a universal DU B.Ed passing mark.

After allocation, accepting the seat is only one step. The institution verifies the application and documents; the applicant then pays the admission fee within the deadline. The NTA examination fee and DU CSAS registration fee do not cover the college admission fee.

A degree requirement such as 50% is an eligibility threshold, not an entrance cutoff or the percentage of candidates who pass. An all-CUET PG candidate count would also include many programmes unrelated to DU B.Ed, so it cannot be presented as the number competing for these 438 seats.
