The TANCET 2025 Counselling is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Chennai to gain admission into MBA/ MCA through the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) Exam.
- Only those who have a valid score in TANCET 2025 and a relevant degree will be eligible to apply. There’s no upper or lower age limit to participate in the TANCET counselling.
- Candidates must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years duration with 50 percent aggregate (unreserved category) and 45 percent aggregate (reserved categories).
- For top Government Universities like Anna University, PSG College of Technology need a score of 55+ for MBA, while for MCA a score of 50-60 is required.
- For admissions to Mid-tier colleges like Rajalakshmi Engineering College, SRM, etc. MBA aspirants need a score of 40-55 marks, while MCA candidates need 35-50 marks.

TANCET Counselling 2025 Dates (Tentative)
The TANCET 2025 exam dates are scheduled on the 22nd March for MBA/MCA and the 23rd March for M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan. The exam will be conducted at 42 examination centers in 16 cities all over Tamil Nadu.

What is the process of TANCET Counselling?
TANCET Rank List
To participate in TANCET 2024 counselling, you need to first register, upload documents and pay the fees. Post which, the TANCET rank list is released and choice filling is done. TANCET seat allotment is done on the basis of your rank and preference. There will likely be only one round of general counselling followed by supplementary and SCA to SC counselling rounds.

How is the TANCET Rank List prepared?
TANCET MBA rank list 2025 will be prepared based on the score obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam. The score is calculated as per the marking scheme of TANCET 2025. 1 mark will be given for each correct answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted for the wrong answer.
TANCET percentile score will be considered to allocate ranks for the candidates. The candidate with the highest TANET percentile score will be awarded the first rank as per the TANCE MBA rank list 2025.
TANCET Tie-breaker Criteria 2025
In case two or more candidates scored the same marks and percentile in TANCET 2025 in that case the tie-breaking policy will be done by the authority. The Directorate of Technical Education follows the steps below to prepare the TANCET 2025 MBA rank list:
- Candidates with a higher average percentage of marks from the previous qualifying examination will be allotted by the top rank.
- The older candidate as per the DOB mentioned in the 10th certificate will be given the preference.
TANCET Counselling 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Before registering for the counselling process, you must check whether you meet the eligibility criteria or not.
- If you are from Tamil Nadu you can participate in the counselling process. During document upload, you will be required to include your Tamil Nadu nativity certificate.
- You must have at least a 3 year bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate for unreserved category and 45% for reserved category.
- There is no upper or lower age limit prescribed by the authorities.
- Those in the final semester of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
- You must have a valid TANCET 2025 scorecard.

What is the Cut Off in Tancet?
The TANCET 2025 Cut-off is yet to be released by the Directorate of Technical Education, meanwhile, you can check the expected cut-off for 2025 which is calculated based on the previous years’ cut-off data. According to the analysis, we can conclude that:
- For Top-Tier Colleges like Anna University, PSG, SSN, Thiagarajar, etc. a candidate needs to score between 58 to 65 marks.

What is the Counselling Process for MBA?
Seats will be allotted through counselling only. More number of candidates than the actual number of seats available will be called for counselling. Candidates are advised to check the seats available in the web portal.
- Admission will be offered depending upon the seats available based on the merit of the candidates who attend counselling as per the reservation norms of Government of Tamil Nadu and others cannot claim any right for admission.
- A candidate can get allotment for one programme only.
- Candidates should download the Call Letter, only from Anna University web portal by entering their TANCET application number, Name and Date of Birth.
- Candidates should attend the counselling at their own cost with all the original certificates.
- At the time of counselling, the candidates have to pay Rs. 5,300/- (Rs. 1,150/- for SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) in the form of a Demand Draft, which includes a non-refundable fee of Rs. 300/-towards counselling fee (Rs.150/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) and attend the counselling with all the original certificates. The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “The Secretary, TANCA, Anna University” payable at Chennai.
- Once a seat is allotted, the amount of Rs.5,000/- for general category or Rs.1,000/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates already paid at the time of counselling will be adjusted towards the tuition fee to be paid to the respective allotted college.
TANCET Supplementary Counselling Round 2025
After the general counselling process gets over, DTE conducts the supplementary counselling round.
- Takes place to fill vacant seats after 1st round of counselling.
- Those who did not participate in choice filling during the general counselling round are also eligible for this round.
- TANCET supplementary counselling provides TN MBA and MCA admissions.
- It is conducted in offline mode.
TANCET SCA to SC Counselling 2025
This takes place after all the rounds of TANCET counselling 2024.
- Under this round all SC candidates are eligible to apply
- Even those candidates who have been allotted seats prior to this round can be a part.
- It takes place in offline mode.
