ULSAT 2027 applications are open for the five-year BA LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA LL.B. (Hons.) courses at UPES. Applicants need at least 50% marks separately in Class 10 and Class 12. UPES has not announced the ULSAT 2027 exam date, application deadline or result date.
The entrance test is held online for two hours and has 150 questions across five equal sections. UPES also considers CLAT-UG 2027, CUET-UG 2027 and board merit for the five-year law courses. The ULSAT 2027 page does not yet give the required scores for these options.
ULSAT is the law entrance test conducted by UPES for its five-year integrated law courses. A student can enter these courses after Class 12. The same published paper pattern applies to BA LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA LL.B. (Hons.); the difference between the courses lies in the subjects studied with law.
The three-year LL.B. and one-year LL.M. are separate courses. The three-year LL.B. is meant for graduates and uses a personal interview for selection. LL.M. applicants need an LL.B. or an equivalent law degree and may be selected through ULSAT-LLM or CLAT-PG. The five-year ULSAT pattern on this page does not apply to those courses.
UPES has opened applications for the 2027 admission cycle. The university has not yet published the ULSAT exam date, last date to apply, demo-test date or result date. The applicant portal lists the 2027 academic year and allows students to begin registration.

For five-year law admission, UPES requires at least 50% marks in Class 10 and at least 50% marks in Class 12. The two percentages are checked separately. A higher Class 12 score cannot make up for a Class 10 score below 50%.
| Condition | Five-year BA LL.B. / BBA LL.B. |
|---|---|
| Class 10 marks | Minimum 50% |
| Class 12 marks | Minimum 50% |
| Class 12 stream | Any stream |
| Class 12 result awaited | May apply provisionally; final admission requires the qualifying result |
Science, Commerce and Arts students can apply. The stream does not decide whether a student must choose BA LL.B. or BBA LL.B. Students awaiting the Class 12 result can enter the appearing status in the form, but they must meet the final marks requirement before admission is confirmed.
The UPES applicant portal is accepting forms for the 2027 academic year. The form asks for personal details, Class 10 and Class 12 information, the preferred programme and the basis for admission. Applicants using CLAT, CUET or board merit can enter the relevant score or marks when asked.
| Form field | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Academic year | 2027 |
| Programme | BA LL.B. (Hons.) or BBA LL.B. (Hons.) |
| Academic details | Class 10 and Class 12 marks, or appearing status |
| Admission mode | UPES entrance exam or another accepted option |
| Contact details | Working email address and mobile number used for admission messages |
UPES has not stated the ULSAT 2027 application fee on the dedicated exam page. The applicant portal shows the amount before payment. The application fee is separate from tuition, hostel charges and any payment required after an admission offer.
ULSAT is a two-hour online test with 150 questions. Each of the five sections has 30 questions, so no section has a larger share of the paper. Legal General Knowledge and Legal Aptitude are separate sections.
All five sections carry 20% of the total questions. Source: UPES ULSAT 2027 exam pattern.
| Section | Questions | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Language Comprehension | 30 | 20% |
| Quantitative & Numerical Ability | 30 | 20% |
| Logical Reasoning | 30 | 20% |
| Legal General Knowledge | 30 | 20% |
| Legal Aptitude | 30 | 20% |
| Total | 150 | 100% |
The 2027 page does not publish a marks-per-question rule or state whether negative marking applies. A 2026 candidate guide said there was no negative marking, but the instructions for the 2027 test will decide the rule for this cycle.
UPES publishes the names of the five sections but not a chapter-by-chapter syllabus. The section names show the skills tested: reading and language, school-level numerical work, reasoning, legal awareness and the use of legal principles in short situations.
| Section | Main focus | How it differs from nearby sections |
|---|---|---|
| Language Comprehension | Reading, meaning in context, central idea and inference | The answer must follow from the passage rather than outside knowledge |
| Quantitative & Numerical Ability | Arithmetic, ratios, percentages and numerical information | It checks calculation and the correct use of numerical data |
| Logical Reasoning | Conditions, arrangements, arguments and conclusions | No legal knowledge is required unless the question provides legal content |
| Legal General Knowledge | Legal institutions, constitutional basics and important legal developments | It asks for knowledge of a fact or institution |
| Legal Aptitude | Applying a stated principle to a set of facts | It tests the use of a rule, not only recall of legal facts |
UPES accepts ULSAT, CLAT-UG 2027, CUET-UG 2027 and board merit for the five-year law courses. A student using CLAT, CUET or board marks still has to complete the UPES application and meet the Class 10 and Class 12 eligibility rules.
| Admission option | What UPES uses |
|---|---|
| ULSAT | Performance in the UPES law entrance test |
| CLAT-UG 2027 | The UPES important-dates page lists General-category AIR up to 20,000, with at least 50% in Class 10 and Class 12 |
| CUET-UG 2027 | Valid CUET-UG score under the UPES selection criteria |
| Board merit | The UPES important-dates page lists at least 60% in Class 10 and Class 12, using five main subjects including English |
The ULSAT 2027 notice still marks the CLAT rank, CUET score, board-merit percentage and seat split as TBA. As per the UPES important-dates page, General-category applicants need a CLAT AIR up to 20,000 or 60% marks for board merit. Students should use the condition shown in their application if the two pages continue to differ.
Both courses combine a bachelor's degree with law and run for five years. BA LL.B. places arts and social-science subjects beside law. BBA LL.B. adds business and management subjects. Both courses still cover core legal subjects.
| Point | BA LL.B. (Hons.) | BBA LL.B. (Hons.) |
|---|---|---|
| Non-law foundation | Economics, Sociology, History and Political Science | Business administration and management |
| Law study | Core law subjects and available law specialisations | Core law subjects and available law specialisations |
| ULSAT pattern | Same published five-section test | Same published five-section test |
The course name does not lock a student into one branch of legal practice. The better choice depends on whether the student wants an arts and social-science base or a business and management base alongside law. The UPES School of Law profile gives the institute and course details.
UPES has not announced the ULSAT 2027 result date. Result and selection messages are sent through the applicant account and the registered email address and mobile number. The 2027 page also does not mention a compulsory group discussion or personal interview for the five-year law courses.
Filling the form or completing the test does not confirm admission. The offer letter gives the course, marks and payment conditions. Class 12 marksheets, school certificates, identity proof and the CLAT or CUET scorecard may be needed during document checking.

ULSAT has 150 questions. Each of the five sections has 30 questions, and the total test duration is two hours.
UPES has not published the complete 2027 marking rule on the dedicated ULSAT page. A 2026 candidate guide stated that there was no negative marking, but the instructions issued for the 2027 test will be final.
Yes. UPES accepts CLAT-UG 2027 and CUET-UG 2027 scores for the five-year law courses. The score or rank must meet the condition used by UPES for 2027 admission.
No separate paper pattern is published for the two courses. Both use the same five-section ULSAT structure. Their main difference is the non-law subjects studied with the law degree.
