On February 25th and 26th, 2023, the Alliance University School of Law will play home to the Justice N Santosh Hegde National Moot Court Competition. In a mock trial setting, legal students from all around the country compete for prizes and recognition each year at this annual event.

Former judge of India's highest court, Justice N Santosh Hegde, is the event's keynote speaker and namesake. Judge Hegde has a stellar reputation for his dedication to fairness and honesty in the courtroom. The contest is a suitable homage to his memory and accomplishments in the legal profession.

Teams from premier law schools in West Bengal, Maharashtra,Kerala, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana will compete over the course of the two days. In the first round, the teams will compete to represent either the petitioner or the respondent. Following the group round, the best teams will battle it out in the quarterfinals, semis, and finals of the tournament. Each group will report to Alliance University's Central Campus in Bengaluru on February 24 for a research exam in advance of the 25th, when the official opening ceremony will begin. The preliminary rounds will be judged by more than 25 illustrious professionals employed by reputable law firms, MNCs, and the academic community who graduated from Alliance School of Law. Mr. Priyesh Sharma, Assistant Vice President, Nucleus Office Parks (Blackstone Commercial Entity); Sujith Surendran, Associate Dean, PES University;Mr. Gaurav Sahay, Partner, LinkLegal; Dr and Dr. Sunil George, Principal, IFIM Law school will serve as judges for the semi-final rounds.

For the last round, we have secured the participation of Justice Michael D'Cunha, a former judge of the Karnataka High Court, and Ms. Roopa Prasad Doraswamy, the founder of Flywork.io and the general counsel of Microland. These judges have earned widespread acclaim in the legal community, and they will use their considerable expertise to ensure a level playing field for all contestants.

A group of thirty students and seven faculty members from the Alliance School of Law are putting up the tournament. More than fifty student volunteers are helping them out. Team members have put in countless hours of preparation to guarantee a successful event for both contestants and judges.

Everyone who enters the 2023 Justice N. Santosh Hegde National Moot Court Competition may expect a fun and challenging experience. It's a great way for aspiring lawyers to develop their craft and obtain experience before entering the workforce. This year's tournament will undoubtedly be a huge success because to the stellar panel of judges and the wide range of talented Americans who are entering it.
