NMIMS Hyderabad tries to take the education beyond textbooks with its holistic approach that includes societal impact. Nishchay, a Social Responsibility Committee led by students is an embodiment of NMIM’s commitment towards social service and community development as it engages the students in meaningful contributions to society.

At present, Shubraneel Baruah and Priyanka Raheja head this committee which includes 45 dedicated students and a junior committee comprised of 24 students. Further, the committee has verticals on Content, social media, Designing, Networking and Events discharging specific responsibilities. The committee makes efforts towards community building and a vibrant campus due to which this year it engaged in organising multiple events with varying degrees of impacts.

School of Business Management (SBM) at SVKM’s NMIMS offers We Care Programme which is a three-week winter internship & social initiative with the objective of empowering first-year MBA students at SBM. This programme helps the students get an experience of social realities of India so that they can be encouraged to be changemakers towards an equitable and sustainable future. From this year, Nishchay has subsumed the WeCare programme within its folds.

Nishchay The thriving student-led Social Responsibility Committee Driving Change and Positivity in Society

WeCare Programme is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and it places students with NGOs, social enterprises, government departments and CSR wings of corporations. This gives them an opportunity to tackle social challenges in fields of education, gender equality, energy conservation, poverty alleviation, skill development and financial inclusion which leads to promotion of problem solving, collaboration, and leadership skills along with an in-depth understanding of the social landscape.

On 30 July 2023, Nishchay organised a visit to TOUCH, an orphanage in Hyderabad, in the spirit of selfless giving. During the visit, the committee engaged with kids at orphanage using games and food as the day progressed with interactive sessions involving dancing and singing. Everyone was able to create cherished memories and learn the significance of gratefulness along with power of collective action.

Nishchay participated in ‘Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta: A step towards building a clean nation’ to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary where it organised a cleanliness drive involving plantation as well.

Nishchay also undertook the conduct of a blood donation drive with Indian Red Cross Society, Mahbubnagar which was attended by esteemed personalities like Mr. Ravi Gugulothu, Hon’ble District Magistrate of Mahbubnagar and Miss Deepa, Project Director at L&T Tollgate along with students from various schools. The initiative was success as it received participation from 104 people, in an overwhelming response.

In its efforts to give back to the community, Nishchay has planned a fundraising and collection drive called ‘Joy of Giving Week’ where it will distribute essentials among the marginalised communities of the society.

Nishchay Committee has played a crucial role in shaping the student experience at NMIMS Hyderabad with an objective of making the students understand the issues that plague our society today and how they can make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate. All the initiatives undertaken by the committee has contributed to making society a better to live for one and all.
