Remarks :

The admission was based solely on the NEET UG exam and the normal allotment process following it. All we had to do was bring the right documents to the college during the time of allotment and the admission slip. The preparation for NEET UG exams requires a dedicated work plan. It's more about smart work than hard work. Given the competition that exists in the build-up to the course, solving more mcqs gives you an edge over the others as the exams are mcq-based. The next UG exam consists of physics, chemistry and biology which all amount to a total of 720 marks. More focus should be given to biology as it accounts for half the marks. The cutoff usually hovers around the 620-630 range. This however is subject to change as the competition in this field is ever increasing.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Being a doctor was one of the first things that I wanted in my life and hence I didn't need to think twice when the opportunity came knocking on my door. I feel that our college has done a really good job of actually helping me live my dream. The faculty here are some of the best whether it is their qualification or their teaching methodology. They are really helpful and try to incorporate new methods of learning to increase our interest in the subject. They even help us pursue things like research and hence help us overall. The exams here are some of the most systematic exams you get in the government medical colleges as they place timely sessional and short exams to prompt us to learn the topics regularly and prevent piling up of portions. The exam levels were a notch above the university exams and thereby helped us ace the university exams.

Internships Opportunities :

Every MBBS graduate has to undergo a mandatory internship programme in his/her college. In our college, we have to undergo an internship of 1 year where we are given postings across different branches of medicine like general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics and so on. Each department would require you to spend a certain amount of time in their department. You are paid for the work you do and our college offers around 28000 rs per month for the interns as a stipend. It is one of the best in our country. After a year of internship, you are no longer required to work there and you are free to go work at a place of your choice or pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience :

There are usually no campus placements in our college. But it is the same for every college as you don't tend to get campus placements in MBBS. We have to undergo a year of internship in our college where we are paid a salary per month.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The first year fee in our college amounts to about 24000 rs per annum. However, we are also required to pay an additional 8000 rs as union fund and 15000 as PTA fund. Also, some amount of additional expenses can be expected like book fees. Hence the total expenditure of the course would amount to about 50000-60000 rs in the first year. These extra fees are only to be paid in the first year and you are exempted from the same in the subsequent years though you still have to pay for your books. There are also several scholarships available in our college for students who are financially not able to support themselves. The E Grantz scholarship is one such scholarship programme. Also, the students of SC AND ST sections are not required to pay any tuition fee and the students from the OBC category are entitled to various reductions in their fees depending on their categories

Campus Life :

First of all the good things about our college would include the excellent infrastructure our college has in comparison to other government medical colleges not just in the state but all all over the country. We have an indoor court and stadium, an air-conditioned auditorium, a match-sized pitch, ground and nets for cricket, and a proper football ground. Our college happens to be one of the best when it comes to arts and rightly so as Throssur is regarded as the cultural capital of Kerala. We have an air-conditioned lecture hall, projector and a nice library which is regularly updated with the latest journals and articles across the field of medicine. The books in our library also happen to be top quality books and we can refer them whenever we want. There are a lot of different clubs like nature club, arts club, sports club and many more which are run by the students to increase our interest in extracurricular activities. overall we have around 20 different clubs.

Hostel Facilities :

One of the downsides of our college is the hostel and its dilapidated state. The boy's hostels are the worst and there is a constant shortage of water and it's not clean. The food is manageable but the cleanliness of the food is questionable. However, there are always other options available in and around the campus if you want a better standard of living. The process for hostel admission is not that cumbersome as you get asked about your preference for the hostel upon admission itself. Usually, those getting admission in the first rounds of counselling would get hostels easily as compared to the others. Hostel preference is given to those living farther from the campus than others. The hostels are cheap though as they cost only 40 rs per month. The mess fee is separate and amounts to about 3300 per month.

Sct review

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.
