- The alumni structure. Brilliant. The crowd of students here. High quality. The approach to learning and knowledge. Experience and research based.
- Campus life. Incredible. Hostel life, friends I've made here (family at this point), professors. Supportive beyond limits.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure definitely has to improve, the department does not look the part as the one leading the field of Naval architecture education in India. Neither are the classrooms up to the standard.
- Very annoying fund allocation to the department, although that is more on the university than the department itself.

Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose the course because I was interested in Naval Architecture as a subject. I wanted to work on ships, from I was pretty young, and this is the best institute in India for this course, so the choice was rather obvious. The faculty for the core subjects are impressively qualified and approachable, might not be like the professors of IITs, but can teach you and are definitely in love with the subject. Term exams were mostly on time and the difficulty is moderate. Will not be easy if you're not prepared, but easy to study for if you're aiming for a passing grade (as long as you have interest in the subject). To achieve distinction is difficult, but rewarding.
Internships Opportunities :
Compulsory internships in second and third years. Optional internship in the third year. 100% internships since the beginning of the department. Interns been to CSL, GSL, GRCE, MDL, and almost all major shipyards in India, not to mention Oshima Shipyards and Drydocks Dubai and Grandweld Dubai which are not the only yards we've had opportunities to abroad but are definitely the largest. Third year internships mostly have a stipend of atleast 20,000 per month. (All figures in rupees) All internships involve actual workplace experience, and projects and are in-workspace. Exceptional opportunity to learn of the field.
Placement Experience :
Anybody in our department is eligible for our placements. Boasting 100% placement statistics for 3 consecutive years now. Last year's biggest recruiters were IRS, Albwardy and NMDC, among others. Highest and average placement statistics: 2.8 lakh per month, 67000 per month (all figures in rupees) My plans after the degree is simple: I'll get placed anyway, so I'll work for 3 years and then try to do my MSE abroad.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tuition fees: ~ 12000 per semester Exam registration fees: ~ 1500 per semester Admission fees: paid on admission, equals the fee of first semester Lab fees: 2000 per sem Other fees (like PTA, clubs, etc): ~ 2000 per sem (All figures in rupees) OBC, SC, ST students have scholarships, paying almost full fees and sometimes even greater than the fee amount.
Campus Life :
Fests haven't been conducted for a year due to Kerala's floods last year, but the campus is definitely a lively one. We have Sargam, the university wide cultural fest during the spring, and our own fests, like the SNAS 'Nite, which is essentially a farewell fest. Two libraries to choose from, the university library and the department library. University library for most interdisciplinary stuff and department library for core subjects. Exceptional range. Classrooms have been renovated recently, but it's not a smart class room yet. Sports starts with Astra, the main campus sports event, then Kurukshetra, the university sports event. Our department has the Nauka, the department wide sports event. Our department specifically has a bunch of extracurricular activities to choose from, art, sports, event management, the like, research if you're inclined, part time jobs, etc. The Society of Naval Architecture Students (SNAS) is the society for our department students, website: snas.in
Hostel Facilities :
The mess in our hostel is maintained by our students, so the food is very good, and the menu has a decent variety. The registration process for the hostels is a bit roundabout, but considering how affordable the hostels are and how well the hostels are maintained (particularly Siberia hostel for us the students of Department of Ship Technology, Royal Shippies Kiii).

Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.

I love zoology.. I want to build my career on this subject. My faculty has phd.. She teaches well.. I could understand all concepts very easily. There are internal exams. I am studying four year fyugp course. So there is only one internal. And then there is sem exms at last. If u study well u could score good marks. Little difficulty
