Likes
- The university offers various exchange programs and a Disney program for different departments wherein we can work and earn in the U.S.A disneyland for three months period and also 6 months period. University has rich infrastructure filled with lush greenery,diverse plants and beautiful flowers.This natural setting creates an inviting and lively atmosphere. The university also offers great placements and the infrastructure of the departments also varies which shows a diversity in the infrastructure planning.
- The thing that I like about the faculties that their highly qualified and also the way they deliver their subject is exemplaryThe faculty is not biased and many of the times lenient marking has been observed from the faculty side so that the students do not suffer from any problem in semester results. Although the attendance criteria is 75% but also many times students have been held and this criteria has been sidelined to debarr the students from detaining.
- Although the campus life is not that happening as it is shown in the TV shows or movies and many of the activities that take place in the campus are not really known to everyone so many students are not able to enjoy the activities or events. A political campus life and a political body is also absent from the university which makes it a kind of boring place. The food facility in the university is also a bit costly and the quality does not match the cost of it.
Dislikes
- Although the university is very habitable but still the University campus is very small as compared to the number of students in the university. Sometimes it also seems overcrowded and there's not much to see in the campus. Leaving the university is also difficult task as you have to get your gate pass approved by the mentor and you only can leave without the gate pass after 3:30 p.m. The strict uniform regulations of wearing the chitkara university t-shirt with blue or black jeans and shoes sometimes make it hard for students to look at it as a University and not a school. The drinking water available in the University is also not clean and many of the times students have complaint about being infected. The university buses have no provision of AC or anything for summers although full fees is provided by students.
- Many of the faculty in our department is experienced but yet many new recruits in the staff and not that experienced which becomes a problem for the students. Many of the clubs that may seem to be very inquisitive and attract students are not really very beneficial for the students for example the literature club does nothing more than taking students to for competitions once in a year and asking students to perform as standing figureines in different functions of importance. To sum up you can say that the clubs don't offer that amount of opportunities to the students to showcase their talents. One thing that I didn't like about my course subjects was that in the first year everything was literally theoretical and then many of the subjects we had to note down every single thing that this teacher was speaking with sometimes ignited my anger as to why this is a college not a school.
Remarks :
Mass communication department of Chitkara is overall placed at the 7 th place from all over the country , the infrastructure of the department and the college , more over the quality of youth and studies, semester exchange programs availability are some of the reasons why I choose this college . No interview , group discussion or any kind of written test taken for the admission; direct admission.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose this course because I was particularly interested in leadership qualities, mass addressal, fighting the slightest of my stage fear, returning back to my previous self before the COVID period and my zeal towards the art of debating. The faculty in our department have all pursued masters in journalism and mass communication while some are also pursuing PHD alongwith teaching and some have already completed their PHD and are working as professors. Some of the experienced faculty master their subjects and maintain proper deliverance of the same. The new recruits in the staff are not yet experienced and so struggle with finding their own subject which is why they are assigned different subjects from which in some subjects their instructional quality and methodology is not up to mark . The term exams are scheduled consistently, with minimal chances of postponement or rescheduling. The difficulty levels of the exams are moderate althought this level also varies from students
Internships Opportunities :
As this is my third semester so the students were encouraged for doing an internship in the past summer vacations. The internship was self found as the university offers less internship opportunities. I worked for two weeks in City channel Shimla and 2 weeks in daily post Mohali As our summer vacations were for just one month in July. I learnt about voice modulation while the deliverance of news , creating ads , learnt how to use tools like Adobe Photoshop and premier Pro, went for ground work in reporting, closely the observed the working of news channels,handled social media platforms . Placement Experience :
The placements are offered by the placement cell of the university. One criteria for placements is CGPA and the other is personal interest. The university is chosen by many due to the high placement percentage it offers. Till now recruiters like True scoop and News 18 have recruited students for internship but almuni placements in high reputed companies like Mirchi, Cheil, RedFM and many other reputed companies instill our confidence in the placements. The university offers 100% student placement criteria. I plan to pursue higher education outside the country. During the idle time I may find a job in the Process of advertisement industry as they offer high starting packages . Industries like radio and TV stating packages are usually 20,000 or less while some newspaper agencies offer a little higher staring packages of 40,000 or more .
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
No scholarship available and no reservations in the college as whole . No fee reduction as my category is general Per semester fee is 62,000 approx (includes tution fee ,lab fee ) +20,000 for admission fee only taken for the first semester. No increase in tution fee for every semester. Not included :- Transport or hostel fee , uniform fee Compulsory charges :- Swayam course charges in the 3 Rd semester, contributions for programs on various occasions like teachers day , diwali celebration
Campus Life :
Different fests are conducted by different departments.Fest like rangrez,book fest,diwali fest and recently our department conducted the media fest "Udaan" on 25 th October.So many fests take place during the year and all major festivals are celebrated. Our course books and journals are provided in the library for issuing and no money is wasted on the purchase but at times the quantity of books are lesser than the students those are required to issue them.The classroom has proper amenities.For sports the college has a sportorium catering to different activities like foseball, badminton,table tennis,pool game,basketball court,volleyball court,cricket ground and a gym. There are different clubs and societies in our college.Literature club,dance club,acting club and various different clubs coexist in the campus.There is also a happiness centre in the college.Many of the Instagram or social media handles are handled by the student bodies of the respective club .

College offers on campus placements opportunities in the 4th year of the course . Many reputed companies like Apple , Amazon , PhonePe , Maruti Suzuki etc visits campus for rhe placements. Highest and average package is around 60 lakhs and 17 lakhs respectively . 90 % students got placed this year

I don't have much idea about eligibility criteria because I have been in the clg 3 months. Company like Jp Morgan godrej britannia etc are the tip recruiters in our branch. This semester My H and Q company have given intern to many students. I am planning for government jobs. 40% of students are places in my branch.

Placemnts are better than other nits like hamirpur nit Jalandhar and nit kurukshetra also better than some private college like thapar its avg is like 13 lakh and median is 12 lakh for electrcal its same median avg is 14.5 and cse avg goes 20+ and ai avg 19 lakhs

placements are good and you can get the official data on college websity of my branch 94 placed out of 127 and avg package is 13.1 and median is 12 lpa but cse avg this year goes 20 + lpa but lower branch like civil has some low placemnt stats as many students go for foriegn ms or higher studies or gate psu from civil

The placement rate of chitkara is great from the starting of third year you can apply for placements . Various companies like Wipro,hero, Tata motors, Reliance, Lenovo visits for placements. The average package is around 8 lpa and heights is 45 lpa, from the college there are 100% placement rate.

Course Curriculum Overview :
I was never interested in this course but due to family stress I was forced to do this and later on it was much intrested than any other subject. The beginning and end of universe is all what engineering teaches us and if somebody will find it not interesting then he should cut himself from this world.

The placement is quite very low for my department and my course. University is practicing for encouraging more companies for our course placement. It is improving but now the placement is low for my course . Like from last year only 5 were placed out of 60.
