K.J. Somaiya is a popular college in Mumbai and they have good placement so I chose this college for me . They provide a decent clinical experience and exposure to help you survive the nursing field .
The course is a 4 year course. The subjects include Anatomy, Physiology, Sociology, Psychology, English, Foundations of Nursing. The faculty is mostly local from Maharashtra and they mostly speak in Marathi. They all struggle in speaking English. There are few good teachers as well but most of them are aggressive and treat you like a school kid . Coming on to teaching methods, the teachers are unable to smoothly conduct a smart class . They lack presentation skills but can verbally make you understand the important points.
Placement is good. People have got great salaries and even the opportunity to work abroad. They give a decent clinical exposure but no memories of college you will enjoy within the 4 year. They won't spend a penny on you for even a toffee.
The actual fee is paid semester wise. I'm from institute quota so I had to pay 67,500 by demand draft and 45000 as correspondence money. Also by 31st December I have to pay 88,500 again and 22,000 as management fee. And there are no scholarship available for institute round students. You have to either leave the college or bear the loss.
No social life only enjoy the day with your classmates. No exposure granted . Nothing to appreciate in general. You only are getting days to study and leave . No fests/ curriculum is organised well . Only a few to name.
Hostel has a common room for sleeping and the food is boring and tasteless. Try to avoid wasting your money on hostel. Hostel has a dormetory to sleep and no library facilities or food canteen. You have no life here as well
I haven't reached my placement stage yet but from what I have seen the college doesn't wait until the final year to start preparing students. We have coding sessions, skills building workshops and career guidance from the beginning. Seniors also share their experiences which gives us a better idea of what to expect. I feel the college is helping us build the right foundation for internships and placements. At the same time, I think getting a good job also depends on how much effort we put into improving our own skills. So far I feel I am on the right track
no placement data is present now but many of students are working on their own projects and few are cracked the internships and now currently serving their period on the companies and it's really great opportunities.
The college does have a placement cell. It provides some in campus placements . Rarely 2% students get in campus placements. Rest have to find jobs pn their own. You wi have to do alot of interships and gain practical skills to be placed
Diffrent companies have different criteria, limited companies comes in campus such as bootcoding Pvt.Ltd , and some small companies arrived. Highest package giving by companies is 4 LPA lowest package is 3LPA and average package is 2.5LPA. about 20% of students got placed. Searching a job after my course computation.
The faculty members are supporting but inexperienced the experienced professionals have left the college long time ago. This is one of the old colleges in Pune. The semesters are generally proactive extracurricular activities are less and are given not much priority .
