PICT Courses and Fees

PICT offers engineering courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. B.Tech is a four-year course offered in five specialisations. Diploma holders can enter directly through a three-year lateral entry path. M.Tech is a two-year course offered in three specialisations.

The fee is the same for all five B.Tech branches, with a total of INR 5,23,270 for four years. B.Tech lateral entry students pay INR 3,93,865 for the three-year course in any branch. All three M.Tech specialisations have the same total fee of INR 2,38,460. These fee figures are for the general quota in the 2026 academic year.

PICT Admission Process

PICT admits B.Tech students through the DTE Maharashtra Centralised Admission Process (CAP). Maharashtra State quota seats make up 85 percent of the total seats and are allotted by MHT-CET PCM percentile. The All India quota fills the remaining 15 percent seats through JEE Main ranks.

For B.Tech admission, students must pass Class 12 or an equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. General category students need at least 45 percent aggregate marks in PCM, while reserved category students need 40 percent. Students applying through JEE Main must use a score from the current academic year.

1. Register for the relevant entrance or counselling process.
2. Appear for MHT-CET for Maharashtra State quota admission or use JEE Main for All India quota admission.
3. Take part in the DTE Maharashtra CAP counselling process.
4. Choose PICT and the preferred branch during option filling.
5. Accept the allotted seat and complete document verification and fee payment.

Diploma holders from AICTE-approved polytechnics can apply for direct second-year B.Tech admission. They must follow the separate DTE Maharashtra lateral entry CAP process, which has its own merit list and counselling rounds.

M.Tech admission at PICT is based on a valid GATE score in the relevant subject. After GATE results are declared, eligible students attend institute-level counselling. Through this route, PICT offers M.Tech admission in Computer Engineering, Data Science, and Electronics and Communication Engineering.

PICT Cutoffs

PICT sees strong competition for Computer Engineering and Information Technology because it is one of the preferred private engineering colleges in Maharashtra. For OMS (Outside Maharashtra State) candidates under the State quota, the MHT-CET percentile cutoff for these branches usually stays in the 97 to 99 percentile range. Home university and other state category seats also remain competitive across branches.

PICT Placements

PICT has a strong placement record because of its technology-focused courses and its location in Pune, a major IT and engineering centre. The Training and Placement Cell conducts pre-placement training during the year. Students receive support for aptitude practice, technical interviews, and communication skills before campus recruitment.

In the 2025 placement season, companies from technology, financial services, and consulting hired 708 UG students. The average package was INR 10.11 LPA, and the median UG salary was INR 8,37,500 as reported in NIRF 2025 data. The institute also recorded a highest package of INR 91 LPA. For postgraduate recruitment, placed M.Tech students received a median package of INR 19,07,226.

Recruiters at PICT include TCS, Infosys, Oracle, HCL Technologies, Cognizant, Accenture, Barclays, HSBC, Ernst and Young, Siemens, and Delhivery. Computer Engineering and Information Technology students receive the highest number of campus offers. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering students get jobs in embedded systems, electronics design, and telecom companies.

PICT Scholarships

PICT students can apply for fee support through Maharashtra state government and central government scholarship schemes. Applications are handled through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and the Maharashtra state scholarship cell.

The following student groups can receive scholarship support at PICT:

• SC and ST Category: Students can get full or partial tuition fee reimbursement through the Government of Maharashtra post-matric scholarship scheme run by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department.
• OBC and VJNT Category: Students can receive post-matric scholarship support for part of the yearly tuition fee, based on the income rules set by the Maharashtra government.
• EBC (Economically Backward Class) Category: Students from families below the notified income limit can apply for the Maharashtra government EBC scholarship scheme for tuition fee support.
• Minority Communities: Students from Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi, and Jain communities may apply for central government post-matric minority scholarships through the NSP.

Students who meet the rules should register on the NSP portal and the Maharashtra State scholarship portal at the beginning of each academic year. The income limits and last dates are revised every year by the concerned government departments.

PICT Campus and Infrastructure

PICT is situated at Survey No. 27 near Trimurti Chowk in Dhankawadi, south Pune. Its 5-acre campus is compact and arranged with separate spaces for classrooms, laboratories, and administrative work.

The institute has dedicated computer and IT laboratories with high-speed internet and updated software. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Electronics and Computer Engineering also have separate laboratory blocks. The central library has engineering and technology books, along with digital access to research databases and academic journals.

PICT provides separate hostels for male and female students. The hostel charge is up to INR 1,25,000 per year for both the Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel, including accommodation and standard facilities. These hostels help outstation students stay close to the campus during the academic year.

Students can also join technical clubs, cultural committees, and entrepreneurial cells. The institute conducts technical fests and inter-collegiate competitions, giving students project experience and exposure beyond classroom study.

PICT vs COEP Technological University vs VIIT Pune

Students looking for engineering colleges in Pune often compare PICT with COEP Technological University and VIIT Pune. All three are based in Pune, but they differ in ownership, campus size, fee level, and institutional status.

COEP Technological University began in 1854 and is the oldest government engineering institution in Maharashtra. It regularly appears in the NIRF Engineering ranked list. Its government quota fees are much lower than those of PICT and VIIT, but admission through DTE CAP is highly competitive. PICT and VIIT are private autonomous colleges affiliated with SPPU. PICT charges INR 5,23,270 for B.Tech, which is much lower than VIIT Pune's INR 20,63,312. Both colleges offer strong Pune-based placement outcomes. For students who score well in MHT-CET but do not meet COEP cutoffs, PICT is a lower-cost private engineering option with a strong focus on technology courses.
