COEP Technological University Admission Dates 2026

COEP B.Tech admission is handled through the Maharashtra State Centralised Admission Process, also called CAP, by the State CET Cell. MBA and M.Tech admissions are also conducted through their own CAP schedules.

COEP Technological University Courses and Fees

COEP has a common B.Tech fee of INR 8.40 Lakhs for all 9 branches. GATE-qualified students in regular M.Tech programmes pay lower fees because of Maharashtra government support. MBA and premium M.Tech tracks are priced higher because they are self-financed courses.

B.Tech students can choose from Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgy and Material Science, Production Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The AI-ML branch attracts strong interest because of placement results in product and data engineering roles.

COEP Technological University Admission Process

B.Tech (Maharashtra CAP)

COEP does not have a management quota. Every B.Tech seat is allotted through the Maharashtra State CAP conducted by the State CET Cell.

• 80% of seats are allotted through MHT-CET 2026 (PCM) scores for Maharashtra domicile students who completed HSC from Maharashtra
• 20% of seats are allotted through JEE Main scores under the All India quota, which is open to students from any state
• Maharashtra reservation rules apply: OBC (19%), SC (13%), SBC (2%), VJ/NT (7%), and EWS (10%)
• CIWGC quota, for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries, covers 15% of the sanctioned intake in each branch
• Students need at least 45% in 10+2 PCM, while reserved category students need 40%

For COEP B.Tech CSE, the General Category MHT-CET cutoff has usually stayed above 99 percentile. Under the All India quota, the JEE Main cutoff for Computer Engineering generally falls in the 98 to 99 percentile range. This makes COEP one of Maharashtra's most competitive government engineering colleges.

MBA

MBA admission at COEP is done through Maharashtra MBA CAP. The university accepts MAH-MBA-CET, CAT, CMAT, and XAT scores. Applicants must have a graduation degree with at least 50% marks. The MBA course is connected with Pune's manufacturing and IT sectors.

M.Tech

M.Tech admission at COEP is through Maharashtra M.Tech CAP, with preference given to students who have a valid GATE score. For selected programmes, non-GATE applicants may apply through a merit-based route. GATE-qualified students in AICTE-approved M.Tech programmes can receive an INR 12,400 per month scholarship from AICTE/MHRD.

COEP Technological University Placements

The Training and Placement Office at COEP manages campus placements. Among Maharashtra state government engineering colleges, COEP reports strong B.Tech placement outcomes and has shown improvement in median packages over recent years.

The B.Tech median package increased from INR 9.75 LPA in 2022-23 to INR 10.78 LPA in 2024-25. Recruiters come from IT, product companies, analytics, and core engineering fields such as Mechanical, Civil, and Metallurgy. Software product and services roles make up more than 60% of placements. Companies from the Pune IT corridor, auto-tech firms such as Cummins, Mercedes, and Continental, and national IT companies visit the campus.

COEP graduates also benefit from alumni working in Pune-based manufacturing companies and software firms in Bangalore and Hyderabad. This gives students an off-campus network along with placements run by the TPO.

COEP Technological University Rankings

COEP Technological University holds the 90th rank in NIRF Engineering 2025 with a score of 47.31. It is also ranked 43rd among NIRF State Public Universities 2025. These ranks place COEP among the leading government engineering institutions in western India.

COEP Technological University Campus and Infrastructure

COEP has a 36.81-acre campus in Shivajinagar, one of Pune's central areas. The campus combines old British-era buildings with modern engineering labs, workshops, and computing facilities. Its location gives students access to Pune's IT and manufacturing network.

The university has departmental laboratories for engineering branches, a central library with digital access, sports facilities, and an Extra-Mural Activities division for cultural and technical activities. COEP's technical fest, MINDSPARK, is one of the larger inter-college technical events in the Pune region.

Hostel seats are available for some students because the campus is located in a limited urban space. COEP has one boys' hostel and one girls' hostel on campus. Many students from Pune and the Pimpri-Chinchwad area travel daily, as the campus is connected through PMPML buses and the Pune Metro at Shivajinagar station.

Students at COEP can apply for Maharashtra government scholarships, central government schemes, and corporate-sponsored awards. Since COEP is a public university, Maharashtra government scholarship schemes are available to eligible enrolled students.

Maharashtra government scholarship applications for the 2026-27 session are handled through the Maharashtra Scholarship Portal at mahascholarship.gov.in. COEP students who have Maharashtra domicile and family income below INR 8 Lakhs can apply under the EBC scheme, which covers full tuition for government engineering college programmes in the state.

COEP vs VJTI Mumbai vs PICT Pune

COEP Technological University, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) Mumbai, and Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) Pune are well-known government or government-aided engineering institutions in Maharashtra. They are often chosen by high-scoring MHT-CET applicants who want a government engineering college in a major Maharashtra city.

COEP stands out for its long history and university status, which gives it degree-granting autonomy. VJTI has access to Mumbai's placement market in finance, consulting, and technology. PICT is known especially for Computer and IT branches and competitive placements in Pune's IT corridor.
