AIT Pune Admission Process

B.Tech Admission for All Branches

B.Tech admission is limited to the children of serving or retired personnel from the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. AIT Pune has no civilian, management or NRI-sponsored category for its undergraduate engineering programmes. Selection depends entirely on JEE Main performance.

  • Applicants must belong to an AWES-registered family and be the child of a serving or retired member of the Indian Army, Navy or Air Force.
  • Students need at least 45 percent in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • A valid JEE Main result is compulsory, and the better score from Session 1 or Session 2 is considered.
  • Step 1: Take JEE Main and secure a valid roll number and score.
  • Step 2: After AWES releases its notification, complete registration through the AIT Pune admission portal.
  • Step 3: Submit the required records, including the parent's Armed Forces service certificate.
  • Step 4: Wait for the merit list, which is prepared using the JEE Main score and the applicable general, SC, ST or PwD category within the Armed Forces applicant pool.
  • Step 5: Accept the allotted seat, pay the required fee and report to the institute.

AIT Pune does not consider MHT-CET scores, and its admissions are not part of the DTE Maharashtra Central Admission Process. A high JEE Main score cannot make a student eligible if neither parent is serving in nor retired from the Indian Armed Forces.

M.Tech Admission

The Armed Forces ward restriction does not apply to M.Tech applicants. Candidates from any background may seek admission with a valid GATE score in the relevant engineering field. Industry-sponsored applicants can also apply without GATE. Students admitted through GATE may receive the Ministry of Education scholarship of INR 12,400 per month.

AIT Pune Placements

The 2025 placement drive produced a highest package of INR 59 LPA, an average CTC of INR 10.45 LPA and a median CTC of INR 8.50 LPA. Computer Engineering placed 97 percent of its batch. The corresponding rates were 93 percent for Information Technology, 90 percent for Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and 86 percent for Mechanical Engineering.

Accenture, Deloitte, Infosys, HSBC, Godrej and Microsoft are among the confirmed recruiters that have participated in AIT Pune placement drives. Recruiters have cited the institute's disciplined environment and focus on core engineering skills. A notable share of graduates also moves on to higher studies at IITs, NITs and universities outside India.

AIT Pune Campus and Infrastructure

AIT Pune has a 30-acre campus in the quiet institutional area of Dighi Hills. Students use dedicated laboratories for Computer Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Robotics. Other academic facilities include a central library with digital resources, seminar halls and an auditorium. Campus rules reflect the institute's Armed Forces management and emphasis on discipline.

First-year students must live on campus. Separate hostels are provided for male and female students, with singlet, doublet and triplet rooms allotted according to academic merit. The annual hostel and mess charge is INR 1,09,100, including Wi-Fi, laundry and barber services. Students also have access to a canteen, gymnasium and sports complex, while security is maintained across the institute grounds at all times.

AIT Pune vs SIT Pune vs MIT-WPU Pune

Students from Armed Forces families considering AIT Pune may also compare it with Symbiosis Institute of Technology and MIT World Peace University. These private engineering institutions are based in Pune and accept eligible applicants from the general public through their respective admission routes. Their engineering fees fall within a similar broad range.

SIT Pune and MIT-WPU Pune admit students from all backgrounds and provide a wider selection of engineering branches. They are therefore comparable Pune options for applicants who do not meet AIT Pune's Armed Forces family requirement.

AIT Pune FAQs

Ques. Who is allowed to apply for B.Tech at AIT Pune?

Ans. B.Tech seats are available only to the children of serving or retired Indian Army, Navy and Air Force personnel whose families are registered with AWES. The programme has no civilian, management or NRI-sponsored quota. This restriction does not cover M.Tech, which accepts candidates from all backgrounds if they have a valid GATE score.

Ques. How does AIT Pune allot its B.Tech seats?

Ans. An eligible Armed Forces ward must first qualify JEE Main. Once AWES issues the AIT Pune admission notice, usually in June, the student must register through the institute's portal and submit the parent's Armed Forces service certificate. Seat allocation is then based on the JEE Main rank. AIT Pune neither accepts MHT-CET scores nor participates in the DTE Maharashtra CAP rounds.

Ques. What placement figures did AIT Pune record in 2025?

Ans. The highest offer during the 2025 season was INR 59 LPA. The institute recorded an average CTC of INR 10.45 LPA and a median CTC of INR 8.50 LPA.
