St Thomas College always had that reputation of being one of the best academic institutions in the place. In fact it has an impressive NIRF Ranking also. The admission process starts at the same time when the University of Calicut calls for allotment for the college's under them. The candidate must register in University Portal and is required to make a CAP ID. The application for admission can be found in the college website. After applications are recived, a provisional rank list is published. Candidates are called to a common admission drive and are given admission on basis of their rankings. This process usually lasts 3 days. In case if the high ranked students are not taking admission, the lower ranks are given chance. So, eventhough if you're rejected at the time of spot admission you still have a chance. No group discussion, admission tests, or interviews are taken as of now.
For me as a three year degree student, We had to study 2 language papers each semester for four semester. Math and chemistry are taught as complimentary subjects. On Third year is when we study physics as whole. The same is common for every BSc course with different complimentary subjects which suits their core course. We also have chemistry and physics lab, which we have exams at the end of 2nd year. In third year only the lab for core course is there. Exams are conducted on a schedule different from other university colleges as our institution is an autonomous institution. Every semester ends with exams at proper times and exams are rarely to never postponed. Faculties are well behaving and are people with great knowledge and they do what they're doing. Most of them are PhD holders form famous institutions. Like I even had a teacher who had his PhD from Vikram Sarabhai Space centre. So faculties are educated and they actually support you for finding internship and ultimately a job.
Placements ore one of the things that makes this college worth studying in. We have a special team called the placement cell who works for placement purposes. They teach us to make CV and even coaches to crack the written tests for many companies like Accenture, TCS, etc.. Many students have recieved placements from the college with an average salary of 4 LPA. As of now the placement cell is limited to a room, but they are planning to upgrade to a new building different from college. The placement cell also provides confidence building program to overcome your fears. If you have a master's you can even apply for junior manager post in federal Bank with a salary of 14 LPA which is the highest salary St Thomas College offers in its placements. The placement drove starts only when you reach third year, as of now, being a second year, we've only been able to attend the registration classes for placement.
The college provides lowering in tuition fees if the student submits required documents such as income certificate. From my friends I have learned that that makes their yearly tution fee around 2500. Even If Income certificate is not provided or the student is from management quota or reservation category, the tuition fee won't exceed 5500. Other fees like exam fees would be collected from you which offers no financial aid. Every student is required to pay the exam fee which is nearly 80 rupees per paper with some additional fee making a total of 729 rupees per semester. There are fines for late remittance of exam fee also.
The infrastructure is simply not upto the mark with classes which are not even tiled. The classes have a concrete floor and some classes have little to none access to sunlight. Most classes in the science stream would have a reasearch lab which is perpendicular to the class which makes the windows locked for ever. It's like staying in a box with only one way out. And the campus is very limited as it is located inside of a city. The only open area in the college is Gandhi smrithy an open theatre, which also will be crowded every now and then. Still, the library of the college fascinates everyone and is considered one of the best in the whole district with nearly 1 lakh books. The process of taking books are also hassle free with many people to help you find books and all. The clubs are also very active in the college. There are cookery clubs, dance clubs etc.. The events of the college are a great attraction for newcomers.
The eligibility according to our teachers is that we have to get the 7.5 above CGPA and the number of companies that have visited and recruited are TCS Wipro et cetera and the highest package will be to 7 and lowest will be 2 lakh my plan after the degrees that I will opt for higher studies and specialised in some specific course like Java and will look for the companies like that
college provide best on their placements , as a part of making college to be best at the era . principal told to our batch that they will provide 50% of placements , i am glad to be in this batch because sometimes i may get a college placement to make an expirence for the future jobs
I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.
I choose this course because i have a strong interest in history and understanding past events, and culture and their impact on the present.the course curriculam is well structured and covers both core elective subjects, giving a balanced understanding of historical concepts.
There are few placement opportunities like infosys but we can't opt for high salary paying jobs.I am planning to complete mtech after graduating btech. There are many students with jobs from college selection but I don't like many jobs from college as per their salary
The faculity is generally experienced and supportive most students are satisfied. With the teaching clinical exposure. Facilities are friendly with the students. Regularly conducts class test and model exam to help students prepare for their studies and university examination. Faculties are high qualified and experienced
Most of the faculties are bds or mds graduated and well knowledged. Classes are mainly powerpoint presentation based and seminars. There are 2 internals and one model examination based on which qualification for university exam is determined.
I love zoology.. I want to build my career on this subject. My faculty has phd.. She teaches well.. I could understand all concepts very easily. There are internal exams. I am studying four year fyugp course. So there is only one internal. And then there is sem exms at last. If u study well u could score good marks. Little difficulty
As I'm a first year student I've not got information about the placement but there are so many placement options from South Indian Bank, icici bank and also from companies like deliotte etc The college has connection with many international companies too.
Minimum criteria for placement is for a student with minimum arrears.Even though supply there if you have skill then you will be placed .Amal Jyothi has a better placement compared to other college and is very good
