This is the only government pg college in our area uttarkashi. Otherwise i had to go dehradun for better colleges. So this was the first reason and this is much more affordable and provide most common ug courses like b.s.c , b.com and b.a. The admission process is merit based. The good aspect is that the college is much more affordable and time to time different programmes are organized. The bad aspect is that the education is not that good . College get closed every second week for different different reasons like other exam are going on, college elections, programmes, e.t.c And the worst part is that there is no campus placement in the college i have ever heard. Students only study here to get there graduation and post graduation degree to become eligible to apply for government jobs.
I had commerce stream in my 12th class. So i picked up bcom in ug degree. Faculty is well qualified, obviously they are government teachers and they have cleared toughest exams to become government college professors . But as we all know in government colleges nor teachers are dedicated to teach and also not students are dedicated to learn. Students do not comes regularly, and teachers also not focus that much. Exams are never done timely because of college elections, other exams , and so many other things. Exams are not that tough, moderate level of questions comes, If you study one week before exam you can pass easily.
No placement offers and no internship opportunities. But when students do scout guide and ncc courses so they get chance to go for camping in different areas. But for internship opportunities this college is not good at all
Students commonly graduates and postgraduates from the college and apply for the government exam. There is no campus placement offfered. I am also pursuing bcom to get graduation degree , and then i will prepare for the government exams like RO/ARO.
The admission fee is 1521 rupees for every student And thier is no tution fee Exam fee for every semester is 1371 rupess And there are scholarship of 8000 yearly for students who's family income is less then 2.5 lakh per year . And the other one is brilliant scholarship for the students who are first , second, third in class on the basis of 12th class result. First one gets scholarship of 3000 per month, and the second one 2000 per month, and third one gets 1500 per month. I was first in my class on the basis of 12th class result . So i got scholarship of 3,000 per month. And other then admission fee and examination fee , there no other charges.
Campus life is good . There are two different different buildings one is for b.s.c and bcom students. And the other is for b.a and b.ed students. There is one library and auditorium for functions. Different programmes are organized like hindi diwas , youth parliament, bootcamps e.t.c. No special is celebrated but like special days like Diwali, holi , new year, hindi diwas, e.t.c are celebrated. Garhwali singers are also organised by the college on these celebrations. Extracurricular activities like ncc , scout and guide are also done for the students who are interested.
There is no hostel available . Mainly students rents rooms near to the college because hostel rooms are not available. Rents are bit higher in that area because that is the market area of the city. Some students directly comes from their village by taxis and other vehicles.
Companies do come here for placements and many students get placed as well but there's always the student factor as not everyone deserves to be placed either. My seniors are getting placed at 8.7 to 40 lpa specially the mba courses are getting placed higher.
the placement support at DBS has been one of the best strongest aspects of my experience. the university regularly organized internship and live project, mock interview, aptitude training and industry interaction to prepare students for placements.
To sit for placements, the students have to be in 3 semester. Few famous companies that came in for placements are HCL, Tech Mahindra, ICICI, ANZ, Infosys, Wipro, etc. The highest package this year went up to 40 LPA and average package was 8.7 LPA. Around 95% of students got placed this year. For me I want to work in corporate for a few years then I want to pursue my PHD side by side.
College have decent placement percentage which is ofcourse higher than other local colleges near by.Our college have avg package around 6LPA and every year big companies like TCS visit our college for recruitment offering good packages.
I am preparing for other services currently but yes the college do provide good opportunities for future, even the college has good record in placement for AME, BHM, BCA, PHARMACY courses. Majority of students apply for further studies in our course.
Agriculture department is all about Internships and we have good collaborations with various institutions and training labs for polishing the hands on practical. The college provide good opportunities of works. The departments like AME, BCA, IT, BHM has good placement record.
I would say the college really provides wide opportunities to the specialization courses, as I preferred to go for further studies, but my batchmates got placed in good environmental industries because of the Degree.
Placements are very good. Placement criteria is based on cgpa and student behaviour. Good cgpa and no back allowed you to sit in placement. Highest package is 1.24 cr and average package is 4lpa. About 60% students get placed per year from campus. Tech Mahindra, TCS, wipro, Deloitte HCL etc companies visited fir placement.
I choose this course mainly because I wanted to pursue marketing for quite some time as I am extremely extroverted person. The faculty here are pretty well qualified atleast the ones who have taught me they really take interest in making everyone interact and share opinions
There are good placement and job opportunities are there in off campus placement because there are many sites whivh provide job and internships like inteshala and there are many other platforms to find the job and internships
