- The college is so bright and vibrant. We can socialize and make so many friends with various cultures and multi languages.
- Infrastructure is quite old but renovations are happening. The new buildings made in last few years are outstanding and very nice.
Dislikes
- Some areas are still like a forest with huge grasses and plants. Snakes and such animals would be present there.
- Some buildings are less repaired and are very old they have to renovate it. But such things are very less.
Remarks :
One of the main reasons I choose this college was because of how near it is. For me nit Calicut is near. Another reason is because of its popularity and cultural importance. Nit Calicut has a very good legacy in the engineering colleges of India and is included in top 5 nits in India. However the admission process is long and most part is done on internet, thriugh the private portal of nitc. And after all online procedures including uploading your documents and affidavits, students have to report physically on their designated date and time. Admission for b.tach courses are based on jee mains. Students with percentile above almost 92 in general category might get admission to nitc.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Courses and exams are well planned and very systematic. Course curriculms are updated and includes topics and subjects to study the world of AI and are very advanced. Faculty includes of professors, assistant professors and associate professors. All of them are highly qualified. All of the faculty in nitc have published many papers In advanced areas of science and technology. Most of them are good at teaching, however some professors don't know how to teach properly despite being a genius. Exams are very consistent and have really good quality. In each semester there are 2 exams, one mid term and other at the end. If you fail in a sem you can repeat the respective subject in the next semester. Exams are good and difficult. You need to be very good in concepts and require good problem solving experience to tackle the problems in the paper and get a good grades.
Internships Opportunities :
I am a fresher currently, so I haven't been able to get any internship. But there are so many internships opportunities in our college. Companies like oracle and microsoft also goldmann sacs take internship from nitc and offer high package jobs seeing their performance. But there are also a vast majority of students who don't get any internships. Getting a good internship requires good skills and communication skills.
Placement Experience :
For placements you have to have a good cgpa cutoff. Many companies recruits from nitc. Last year the highest package was 50lpa and lowest was 3.5lpa. almost 75-80% students got placed last year. Many national and international companies like Amazon, nokia, samsung, texas instruments, philips india, microsoft etc
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure of nit Calicut is split into various parts, each of them have to be paid by different methods. First there is tutuion fee which is different for different category of students.for my course since I currently have a fee waiver due to less family income I have to only pay 13000+9000=22000 for tution and a 9000 RS for hostel establishment charges. But it varies in different semesters. In first year at the time of admission, students have to pay 55000-65000RS and also extra for hostel . Total tution fee for btech is an average of 5 lakh rupees . For m.tech it is 1.5 lakh rupees and 6.25 lakh per year for B.Arch students.
Campus Life :
Our fest include thathva and Ragam. NIT Calicut have many clubs and committees. There are technical clubs , cultural clubs, social clubs, environmental clubs and many more. Each club have their own team and sections. Getting into club is based on the inductions that happen. Freshers can join and they will shortlist based on our interest and skills. We have a big and great library in our campus. It includes all books you need to improve in education and life. Classrooms are well equipped with te hnology and and are quality assured alsonit will give you the college experience. Sports and extracurricular activities are very high in nit Calicut. There are teams for every sports including silly games and marathons. All of these clubs are run by students themselves. There are three technical clubs run by students and the admission to these clubs include series of interviews and tasks. We have a free open source sector club which takes people who are really into programming and coding.
Hostel Facilities :
I am residing in a hostel . For first years there are 3 hostel for boys and 2 for girls. My hostel is old, but clean and good. Rooms are nice and 3 sharing . Mess is quite good including nonveg and veg seperately also includes variety of dishes.

I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.
