NIT-Calicut : My short experience

- The people , the students who come here are from a diverse section of the country itself from different states and everything and the college gives everyone a good exposure to the world and whats to come.
- Faculty, they are very friendly and approachable and they will help you out with all your problems academically or not, which is amazing to be fair
- Campus life , one word- awesome. The fests , Ragam , tathva , even the small club events are amazing , you wont get bored here
Dislikes
- Infrastructure: there is always some construction going on somewhere and until recently there was no wifi in mega hostel but now they have rectified it
- Location : some of the hostels are located relatively very far from campus building and the campus bus usually tends to be not on time so there is that
Remarks :
Well because its an NIT entrance into college is through JEE mains (obv) and as for the reason for me joining this college well , for starters its one of the best colleges in the state , has a great NIRF ranking , amazing faculty and resources too with the perfect mixture of academics and experiences. I can say the people who graduate from here not just are academically well off but also mature as people
Course Curriculum Overview :
About my department specifically almost all of the faculty are very good at teaching and they are very approachable also, yes they do take their jobs very seriously and conduct timely test for internal assessment and that makes upto 20 marks for tat course and 30 for midsems and 50 for endsems The question papers are very well drafted with questions of all difficulty levels and even the difficulty levels are sometimes mentioned in the question paper. The mark distribution and valuation is very fair and overall i would recommend NITC if you are choosing my department yes
Internships Opportunities :
No i have not opted for or done any internships. But a lot of my friends have and they have always had nice experiences and even some of them got PPO’s from oracle and all. Usually we get oracle , deloit, goldman sachs and others
Placement Experience :
Personally i haven’t done either but if your cga is good and you work hard then its safe to say that you are sorted well in that department. Usually the genskill app for placements have cgpa criteria according to different companies for the placements and intwrships but a good amount of people do get very high packages and a lot of people get decent packages here
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For SC /St fees is considerably lower and for gen with income below 5 lakhs fees is 41,667 The fee chart says that this is the fees and sc st also has No fees in the chart but the alumni fees and other amenities together amount to around 11,000 per semester.
Campus Life :
Every semester though packed with academic work is also packed with amazing social activities. Ragam , south India’s biggest cultural fest, is conducted every even semester (winter semester)and the fest by itself is 3 days(72 hours) packed with different competitions, events and pro-nite shows. Tathva is our tech fest and is conducted every odd semester (monsoon semester)and is also 3 days long packed with different tech activities, very useful workshops and both these events have a huge footfall of students from all over the state. These events are greatly conducted and managed by the students themselves part of different committees. Cultural like Indian cultural association , the adventure club , literary and debating club etc, and technical clubs like aero-unwired , unwired , robotics interest group also exist in campus and conduct their events and workshops throughout the year thus making a very interactive and social campus
Hostel Facilities :
Applying for a hostel room is along with the admission procedure itself. First year boys will be in A , B or C hostel and girls in LH , total there are around 14 hostels some relatively new building like new mega hostel for boys. One can choose which hostel mess one wants to dine in and most messes serve nice food like D , MBH2 mess 2 and C hostel(old PG1 contract) are some of my personal favourites. Food quality is decent in most messes and sometimes even exceptional for a mess in some messes

The eligibility according to our teachers is that we have to get the 7.5 above CGPA and the number of companies that have visited and recruited are TCS Wipro et cetera and the highest package will be to 7 and lowest will be 2 lakh my plan after the degrees that I will opt for higher studies and specialised in some specific course like Java and will look for the companies like that

college provide best on their placements , as a part of making college to be best at the era . principal told to our batch that they will provide 50% of placements , i am glad to be in this batch because sometimes i may get a college placement to make an expirence for the future jobs

Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.

I choose this course because i have a strong interest in history and understanding past events,and culture and their impact on the present.the course curriculam is well structured and covers both core elective subjects,giving a balanced understanding of historical concepts.

There are few placement opportunities like infosys but we can't opt for high salary paying jobs.I am planning to complete mtech after graduating btech.There are many students with jobs from college selection but I don't like many jobs from college as per their salary

Most of the faculties are bds or mds graduated and well knowledged. Classes are mainly powerpoint presentation based and seminars. There are 2 internals and one model examination based on which qualification for university exam is determined.

I love zoology.. I want to build my career on this subject. My faculty has phd.. She teaches well.. I could understand all concepts very easily. There are internal exams. I am studying four year fyugp course. So there is only one internal. And then there is sem exms at last. If u study well u could score good marks. Little difficulty

Minimum criteria for placement is for a student with minimum arrears.Even though supply there if you have skill then you will be placed .Amal Jyothi has a better placement compared to other college and is very good
