I chose this university because it is a very reputed universities in india and also the most desired government university. It was my dream to come to this university. For admissions, there were no group discussions or personal interviews... The admission was totally based upon the entrance test which is taken by the university and the merit of the students in their bachelors or 12th grade.
I chose masters in economics because i had interest in studying economics as it was my favourite subject. The teachers here are full of knowledge... They know not only the bookish thing but also the outer world.. All teachers here are experienced teachers and have done phd's in their respective fields. We have snap tests mid semester tests and final exams... Snap tests and mid semester tests are for the formative evaluation of the student and also for internal grading of the tests... The final exams of semesters are taken at the end of every semester where the semester is 5-6 months long.
I was given a role of accountant and the stipend paid to me during that period was around 25000 per month. They also provide many other roles depending upon the course chosen by ghe student and the capabilities of the students
Numerous companies keep collaborating with the university for the campus placement every year and many students gets placed through it having average package around 3.5lpa to the max of 12lpa. Although i've not chosen for internship because i'm preparing for Net/Set exam.
The fees i paid for taking admission in Masters was 11000 and as the system is semester wise so every semester the examination fees keep changing from 2700-3200. There was also scholarships available to the students which is a little lengthy process but is worth it and for the students of punjab who are from SC/ST category had fees less than 2000 per year. Through scholarship the tuitions fees of the student gets reverted back to them and only the examination fees is to be paid, and to avail it, only some formalities are to be done and no merit is considered.
University is full of fests. There is fests after fests mostly in the months of february, march, april... And many events takes place every month. There is individual library of every department in the university and also there is a huge library named as AC Joshi library which has books in abundance. There are many grounds for sports activities such as football court, tennis court, basketball court etc. Many parties are present in the university which work for the welfare of the students and is also run by the students themselves.
Although i did not had hostel but i've had food there many a times which doesn't feel like hostel food, it feels like homemade food, which is quite affordable i.e., ?50 for a full meal with unlimited quantity. I reside in a pg which is in sector 15 chandigarh

I was never interested in this course but due to family stress I was forced to do this and later on it was much intrested than any other subject. The beginning and end of universe is all what engineering teaches us and if somebody will find it not interesting then he should cut himself from this world.
The placement is quite very low for my department and my course. University is practicing for encouraging more companies for our course placement. It is improving but now the placement is low for my course . Like from last year only 5 were placed out of 60.
