Honestly, burnout from JEE. I had given KVPY in 11th. Then Covid led to me dropping out of JEE and taking this option that I already had. Sadly KVPY no longer exists and admission is only through IAT and JEE-Adv now.
I chose maths because the faculty were the most friendly. Note that at IISc, you take three common semesters before choosing your major. Most professors have completed their education in very esteemed institutions and are pioneers in their field. Exam difficulty depends on the course and the professor. However they are usually quite reasonable.
As mentioned before, I have not interacted with the placement or internship cell at all. I have done summer research projects with professors I've liked. This involves reading a book or paper of their choosing.
There is a placement cell but I personally do not have experience with it. But there are a lot of companies that come in. Notable examples include Airbus. Students are allowed to take three months internships with no question and longer ones with permission. Not sure what the stipend is since most maths people don't opt for this. Sadly I haven't taken any internships so I cannot comment on it.
15,200 per year for academic stuff. 1k per month for hostel Varying fees for mess, but usually around 6k for non veg food. Good food for the cost. Separate fees for swimming pool. ug students get 5k scholarship per month in BS.
There's Pravega, the UG fest and Rhapsody, the pan-IISc fest. The months aren't really agreed upon and change every year based on external factors. IISc has one of the biggest libraries in the country. Classrooms for mathematics are quite basic but maths doesn't need flashy stuff. Sports clubs are quite active. Same with cultural clubs. There's a band, a drama club, clubs for quizzing, movies, debates. There's regional clubs for students and subject based clubs to further academic interests.
IISc has some of the best messes of any college in India. There are five messes and two planned. They offer a wide variety of cuisines both across and within messes. Hostel fees are 1k per month for single rooms. Mess fees vary but are around 6k a month for non veg food. Rooms are quite basic, with shelves, cupboards and a study table. Some hostels have attached kitchens/bathrooms and newer hostels have common cooking areas. Overall the rooms are quite good given the price. IISc has the best messes of any institute in the country. There are five messes with at least two more planned. They offer a variety of cuisines. Students are assigned one mess and can change every three months or so. But they can be guested in to other messes by paying. The menu is very varied and most food items are amazing. As for registration process, it's clubbed with the admission process and does not require anything more from the student.
There are top rated faculties which are present in the college who have pursued MBBS and MD degrees from top colleges and have for an exam to become a professor in this college and the teaching skills are pretty great as they make a topic pretty easy to understand for students
The placement and job opportunities are good in our college. Our college provides us only with UG Courses so most of the students pursue higher education after that. The placements are good in our college. If I talk about internships so they are very good. Our college provides both paid and unpaid internships to students.

All the faculties are extremely well qualified from top institutions of the world and they are all extremely approachable and nice. The term exams we had were split like CP1, CP2, and CP3 of 20+25+25 marks each. They were some easy ones, and some application based, which develops the engineering thinking mindset
