Remarks :

I already had a vision of entering fashion college after school, and in that process, I got to know about NIFT and its course offerings. I researched all the scope and opportunities related to design and technology courses offered by NIFT and eventually got into preparing for the entrance exam. I find NIFT a very good government-based institution in India for fashion-related studies, I don't find any bad aspects of this institution but yes the culture and environment inside the institution are much more advanced and are not readily accepted by society. For technology-based courses a written exam is conducted followed by an interview, this will get you a rank and your admission will be decided by your rank and the course you are willing to enter. I prepared for this exam with one of my friends also preparing for the same entrance exam.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I got into this course because of my interest in both fashion and science which ultimately led me to BFTech. Faculties teaching graduation programs are on a contract basis and have a master's degree with 3 years prior industry experience, and for permanent jobs, faculty must have obtained a Ph.D. degree for the same. Their teaching method is top class as they have industry exposure so they can help students with practical knowledge more. Besides class tests and other mini-projects, there were 2 courses of full-fledged exams conducted within a semester of 6 months and the exams were not at all easy. There is a fee of 10% every year and it is mandatory for every student taking admission. You need to pay for hostel and mess fees along with other miscellaneous expenses including your stationery. Yes NIFT provides scholarships and subsidies to students but I am not aware of the schemes thoroughly.

Internships Opportunities :

As per the curriculum, students had to go for 3 internship programs. The most important internship is the Graduation project which is conducted at the time of the final semester. I joined Paytm for my Graduation project under the apparel category with the data analytics team. The project was focused on the optimization of the website user interface and improving the conversion rate. And the internship was unpaid.

Placement Experience :

Nift conducts placement drives on different campuses to cover all the students. Faculties of Nift make sure that the student must get into such a company for an internship that will turn into a permanent job in the first place. Otherwise, the placement drive is there. The highest package in 2018 was 16lpa for fetch and the average was 8lpa. Sabyasachi, reliance trends, and decathlon are among the major recruiters in the placement drive. 70-80% of students get placement and 10-15% opt for their venture or further studies. I also opted to start my entrepreneurial journey after getting my degree.

Campus Life :

NIFT conducts two types of fest yearly, one is within all Nift campuses of India which is named "Converge" and the other one is "Spectrum" in which other colleges of particular states are invited to participate. All required books and magazines are available in the Resource center of campus free of cost, also every study material is provided in digital form for future reference. Classrooms are of lecture theater style with all basic amenities intact. The campus does have sports and fitness activities with proper play areas or courts and gyms for boys and girls separately. Students do run clubs like book clubs etc, on their levels and also handle. Mess food is average in taste with variety on the menu. After completing the admission process you can opt for hostel accommodation if required. Also in the case of a few campuses which are situated in urban cities, you can rent apartments but in small cities like Jodhpur, there is no option of living outside campus, as it is 25kms away from the city.

Rajasthan University Review

Placement Experience :

You just have to be a student of last year for applying in internship programs and placements. You have to master any skill and then you can get placement. Many small companies helds campaigns in the university and appoint students for job. The average package is around 20-30 per annum. The highest is around 40 to 50 lakh and lowest is around 10 to 20 lakh per annum. 60% of students gets placement in companies . My plans after getting the degree are to master a skill and then apply for a job in a well known company.

A college review

Placement Experience :

There is no campus placement here. Students who passed out from here some are finding jobs, some had their good family business and just wanted to get a degree and some started their own startup. College don't provide you any future security.
