Jee advanced is the only criteria to get admission in IIT Palakkad. Reservation on category basis and for female students is there. The cut off rank for the admission keeps changing but last years cut off rank might help you. We currently have 5 branches CSE, Data Science , Electrical, Mechanical and Civil. Since the number of students is less you will have a lot of opportunities and exposure as compared to other IITs.
The faculties at IIT Palakkad are well qualified and experienced, especially the mechanical faculty is amazing. Most of them are former professor of IITs and also alumnus of IITs and NITs. Typically a semester lasts about 3-4 months where we will have 2 test series and one end semester (might vary according to students opinion). All of the exams are evaluated and add on to your overall grade. The academic curriculum is Credit based i.e everyone has to complete a certain number of credits (varies for every branch) for successful completion of the degree. Each course will have a certain credit assigned to it based on the course difficulty. Coming to the fee, the institution fee is around 1L per semester and hostel and mess fee is usually around 25k-35k. Many scholarships and fee waivers are available for deserving students. We also have an Earn while you learn program for which you can apply to get a little pocket money by doing some work in the institute itself.
Students are required to complete an internship if minimum 6 weeks during their 3rd year semester break. Usually we get offers from several companies through our career development cell or through industrial connections from our professors. We can also opt for research internships under IIT professors. Some internship offer stipend and some don't. But it is a course requirement that we complete an internship.
The placement season this year is very bad. In mechanical engineering department (my class of 32 students) 14 students are still not placed. The average package has come down to 8 LPA. The maximum package from the recruiter this year is some Japanese IT companies like Accenture Japan. And it is very sad to see everyone desperately applying for 5LPA jobs. Maximum number of offers from one company is from ICICI Bank last year where they recruited 8 students for 8LPA package. There is a good number of students who are interested in going for further studies. Alumnus of IIT Palakkad are currently in prestigious institutions like IITs NITs and several premier institute outside India. This year some recruiters who gave job offers are L&T, TVS motors, Accenture Japan, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Manappuram Finance, Turing Analytics etc.
We have an annual techno cultural fest called Petrichor. It is completely student run and happens in the month of January or February. It is truly amazing experience to be a part of. Currently the infrastructure is less in IIT Palakkad but it is improving but to say the least we have everything we need for a comfortable stay. The library is currently pretty small but we have a good number of computer labs that we can access 24*7. The classroom are all air conditioned and comfortable. We have a great number of cultural and technical clubs which are very active. Each student is definitely a part of atleast one club for sure. The clubs conducts events and competitions throughout the semester and during vacations as well. The sports culture of IIT Palakkad is really commendable. We have a great sports infrastructure and a good number of coaches for all sports. We also have well equipped gyms for students use. The mess food quality is average. Usually breakfast and dinner will be good.
The eligibility according to our teachers is that we have to get the 7.5 above CGPA and the number of companies that have visited and recruited are TCS Wipro et cetera and the highest package will be to 7 and lowest will be 2 lakh my plan after the degrees that I will opt for higher studies and specialised in some specific course like Java and will look for the companies like that
college provide best on their placements , as a part of making college to be best at the era . principal told to our batch that they will provide 50% of placements , i am glad to be in this batch because sometimes i may get a college placement to make an expirence for the future jobs
I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.
I choose this course because i have a strong interest in history and understanding past events, and culture and their impact on the present.the course curriculam is well structured and covers both core elective subjects, giving a balanced understanding of historical concepts.
There are few placement opportunities like infosys but we can't opt for high salary paying jobs.I am planning to complete mtech after graduating btech. There are many students with jobs from college selection but I don't like many jobs from college as per their salary
The faculity is generally experienced and supportive most students are satisfied. With the teaching clinical exposure. Facilities are friendly with the students. Regularly conducts class test and model exam to help students prepare for their studies and university examination. Faculties are high qualified and experienced
Most of the faculties are bds or mds graduated and well knowledged. Classes are mainly powerpoint presentation based and seminars. There are 2 internals and one model examination based on which qualification for university exam is determined.
I love zoology.. I want to build my career on this subject. My faculty has phd.. She teaches well.. I could understand all concepts very easily. There are internal exams. I am studying four year fyugp course. So there is only one internal. And then there is sem exms at last. If u study well u could score good marks. Little difficulty
As I'm a first year student I've not got information about the placement but there are so many placement options from South Indian Bank, icici bank and also from companies like deliotte etc The college has connection with many international companies too.
Minimum criteria for placement is for a student with minimum arrears.Even though supply there if you have skill then you will be placed .Amal Jyothi has a better placement compared to other college and is very good
